Do hair growth inhibitors work?

I've been getting a brazilian done every five weeks for a while now, and my hair growth has thinned, but not nearly as much as I'd like.

Does anyone have any experience with hair growth inhibitors? The internet gives mixed reviews, and I was wondering if anyone has tried any that work (or don't work).

I have used a hair retarding spray before and had no real luck with it. All I noticed was it blocked up the pore/follicle of a few of the hairs, and *maybe* slowed growth a little. If it did it wasn't a significant enough change to note.
