Just HOW much does HBC increase your boob size?

I have never been fitted for a bra before, and it always seemed like around 34Bs fit me best. Well, my roommates INSISTED that I, in fact, did not have B size boobages, I was definitely larger. Thanks to their prodding, I finally made my way over to Nordstroms and asked for a fitting.

Well, it turns out, to my shock and confusion, that I am actually a 32D. I wasn't expecting that in the least. I've always had relatively big boobs, but they were never THAT big, or so I thought. I have been on the pill for almost exactly a year now, and it seems like that have gotten bigger since I've been on it. But then again, it was around that time that I started taking the pill that I was getting to know myself sexually. Before, I never really thought too much about my boobs, but now, I'm very aware of them, so maybe they just seem bigger to me because I have been...getting to know them better, if that makes sense.

Basically, my question is, has anyone experienced this kind of significant change in their boobs while on the pill?

Well, I don't think it's THAT dramatic. If you go down a band size, you add a size to the cup (and vice versa), so your 32D is pretty close to a 34C, which is a bit closer to the 34B you used to be. :)

It's also possible that your body is still changing a bit. And it could be the BC, it could just be your body changing on its own. What really matters is that you're comfortable in your bras and that nothing is poking/riding up/puckering.

It may not have so much to do with HBC as your age...my breasts continued to grow well into my early 20s. I was a D when I started college...now I'm a DDD.

IAWTC. I was a C in high school, then a D, right now I'm a DD with one year left of college and I think it may be time to go and get fitted again. Sigh. I wish they'd stop growing.

i haven't had any change in my boobs since going on the Pill.
i wouldn't worry too much... it sounds like you will 'get used to it' eventually. sorry if i sound demeaning, i'm trying to be ecnouraging!

My boobs got bigger when I went on the pill a few months ago. My boyfriend noticed and was like, "Your boobs... feel heavier." I still kind of fit in my regular bras, but there's definitely some overflowage. So, I kind of went from a smallish C to a C/D.

Oh, and I made a post about this a while back, and if I remember correctly, the general consensus said it was mostly water retention rather than actual tissue growth.

It sounds like you just encountered a difference in company bra-sizings, not that dramatic of a boob growth spurt.

Many stores have different sizes for their bras, the idea being if you're small at once store, and you come to them, you'll be like "Omg my boobs are huge!" and get all happy and only want to buy your bras there. This also works in reverse. Bra sizes aren't universal (although damnit, they SHOULD be!).

I had a friend that was like, "I got sized and I'm a C cup!" And I'm like, "Okay, this friend over here is a B cup and it's OBVIOUS she's bigger than you are...the company you got sized with must be wanting to pad your ego or something."

I'm SO GLAD someone else realizes that companies do this!!

I noticed since going on Nuva Ring, the way I gain weight has changed. It made me gain weight in my breasts, whereas before, it all went to my hips and thighs.

I'm an inch bigger around my bust, which is probably a more reliable measure then bra sizing... i read somewhere that soy milk increases breast tissue so I think it might be that more than HBC.

about 9 months into the pill (ortho tricyclen-lo) i realized that my bras did not fit well anymore. they hadn't for a while, i just chose to ignore it. i had never been fitted for a bra before, but i decided to about a month ago (i had just gotten OFF birth control) and sure enough, i went up a cup size!

who knows if it was just the HBC though?

I was a 34DD before the pill and now I'm a 36F/DDD (depends on what company you get it from, some don't do F, some don't do DDD).

Or it could be because I was 16 when I went on the pill and that's when girls fill out for the last time, as I've heard.

When I first went on the pill, I thought my boobs felt different but weren't necessarily much bigger; it felt more like they had a different density or something. I've switched to a different pill and am experiencing the same-ish again, though I think they could be a little bigger this time around...

I first went on the pill when I was 16, and went from a 32A to a 34B. I went off when I was 19 and they stayed that size. Then I got pregnant and went right onto the patch when I was 20 and they increased to a 36C. I think it's a fair mixture of aging and BC.

It's not that much of a change: a 32D is roughly equivalent to a 34C in actual cup size, since the cups scale up with the band sizes. It could be do to the HBC, or could just be natural growth. Most women's bodies keep changing well into their 20s.

Well, I think a few things. First, that many women's breasts keep growing into their twenties. I went up a cup size around 21, and then another cup size in my early thirties. (And then two more after I had a baby, goddamnit.)

And as others have said, that isn't as big a change as it sounds since cup sizes aren't static. A D cup on a 32" bra is smaller than a D cup on a 36" bra:

The actual volume of the bra cup depends not only on the cup size calculated as above, but also increases with the band size. In fact, most bra manufacturers use the same cup volume for bras which are related by an increase in cup size and a decrease in band size. For instance, the cup volume is the same for 30D, 32C, 34B, 36A, etc. It is for this reason that bra sizes have "sister sizes" which are related in this way by having the same cup volume (e.g. 32C and 34B). Although it is important that a wearer has a correctly fitting bra, it is sometimes possible that two adjacent sister sizes fit equally well, since the cups are the same size, and the difference in band size can be accommodated by fastening the back strap on a different hook. I actually only learned this last week and it was a big surprise to me. I had always known that for a while I could wear a 38C or a 36D, but I hadn't realised it was because the cups were the same size (although it seems obvious now).

Yeah, well awhile back I was shopping for a new bra and decided to get measured properly. The assistant measured me up and said "Ok, you're a 38DD" Me: "Whaaat?! I'm wearing a 34C!" For the record, you could have practically put BOTH of my breasts into one cup of the 38DD. I bought a 36C in the end, I think, which fitted me perfectly. I too had gained from the pill, but not that much:P The key, I think, is to try the bras on, what with the sizing varying from brand to brand, and even from style to style within the same brand.

That's not as great a change as you'd think. Cup size is proportional to the band size, so a 32D cup is roughly the same as a 34C cup, which is not too far from what you thought you were. Also, bra sizes are notoriously unreliable, so you might find that you sometimes fit perfectly into a 32D, sometimes a 34C, or 32C... depends on the bra.

HBC affects everyone differently, there's no set amount that it can affect your bra size. It's entirely possible that it wasn't the HBC but just the fact that you're still young, and your breasts change quite a lot throughout your life :) it's a good idea to get fittings every now and again! It's easy to not notice when old bras stop fitting properly.

When I first started the pill, I was a 34B. After a while, I was a 34C. I had to go off the pill for a year or so, but my boobs never shrank. After getting back on the pill, I am now a 34D. I was all upset because I thought my boobs were going to shrink when I got off the pill. Now I kinda wish they had. But hey, I look great in low-cut shirts. :)
