okay, i'm sorry if this is lame, but i have a question of your opinions! i'm on yasmin, and have been for quite some time. i know this is bad but sometimes i continue taking the pills even after the 21 days, if i have plans that week, or just if i need to, you know. sometimes when i do that i get break through bleeding and just choose to get my period, but this is usually half way thru the 2nd consecutive pack.
ok to the point-- i want to keep taking my pill so i can have sex with my boyfriend before i go home and not see him for a week or two, most likely two. BUT, i have a obgyn appt on the 25th. I want that appointment to go well since its my first time going(was on pill originally for very heavy periods and yes, i know its time to go). i don't want to accidentally get breakthru bleeding right before my appt and ruin it. what do you guys think would be smart to do?

Date: 2007-06-16 07:13 am (UTC)It's not bad. There's nothing wrong with stacking your pills in this way. Yes, you could get breakthrough bleeding, but that's not indicative of any health problem.
As to whether spotting will mess up your appointment--that depends on why you're going. If you want a pap smear, some doctors advise against doing it if you're bleeding because it can cause a false positive. That's more a concern with the older type of pap test--liquid-based paps are supposed to be more accurate. And of course, you don't know if you will be spotting at all.

Date: 2007-06-16 07:40 pm (UTC)how does it not keep you protected though if its monophasic?

(You get fewer placebo pills on yasmin, right? Is it three or five?) It's not the correct way to stack pills, but it seems like you're just having an extra long cycle.
