Hi everyone,
I just started my BC (Ortho Tri-Cycen Lo) and am just about to finish my last set of dark bue pills. I have four left. My period is pretty regular (28 days) and should have came yesterday. I was just wondering if it's normal to skip your period on the first batch of BC and if I might get my period late, like when I start the placebos. I have taken every pill at the same time every day and logically know I'm protected but I still kind of miss the comfort of seeing my period and knowing I'm not pregnant :)
Thank you!

When you are on the pill, you do not ovulate. Your cycle my change a bit because the period you get on HBC is technically not a period; it's hormonal withdrawl that you experience on the placebo week of your pills. Since your body is not yet in hormonal withdrawl, you more than likely will not get your period until you begin the inactive placebo pills.

It sounds like the dark blue pills are active, so you shouldn't bleed while you're taking those - the hormones completely change your cycle. You should expect your period any time during the placebo week. During your first few packs, it's normal for it to be somewhat irregular or not come at all until your body adjusts to the hormones.

No problem. Good luck and, uh, happy bleeding? :-)

You're not actually supposed to start your period until you start the placebos. The dark blue pills still have hormones in them so it's preventing you from getting your period. For me personally when I started my first month of BC I started late Sunday night/early Monday morning of placebo week just because it wasn't used to all of the hormones and whatnot.

as mentioned, the pills will prevent your period from starting until you're on the inactive pills. and keep in mind that it will probably take a couple of days of taking the inactive pills before your period starts as that is the time that your body will be building up the uterine lining that is shed during your period.

for me, i take my last active pill on Friday night and my period starts Monday afternoon. The good news is that gives me a shorter period that goes from Monday to that Friday, you may experience likewise results.
