So, i just got a call from the guy i'm sleeping and yep, he's just being tested positive for chlamydia...great. I know this is easy to treat thru antibiotics (happily)
but for the past few weeks i've experiencing itching on my inner and outer labia, occasional burning while urinating, and the last time i had intercourse it was unpleasant-burning and painful. I don't have any abnormal discharge, growths, smells, or signs of crabs etc. It's just itchy ! So, my question pretty much is; can this itching and discomfort I have been suffering have been caused by chlamydia??I've read up on it a little and I've been getting mixed opinions. anyone here know anything about it?
thanks:)

I'm pretty sure it can be caused by chlamydia. I had a friend that found out she had gotten chlamydia from her boyfriend (of THREE years...he'd gotten it from an ex girlfriend before they started dating)...and apparently had been walking around with it for SOME TIME. But never felt any symptoms. So I'm sure it varies from person the person.

Definitely ask your doctor about it when you go in for treatment.

My friend also told me that treatment is drinking this NASTY concoction...just to warn ya, LOL!

Women can have ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPTOMS for chlamydia. You need to get checked and have your boyfriend re-checked immediately, as chlamydia can lead to PID and may cause permanent uterine damage over time.

When I was diagnosed my only symptom was burning urination and a little bit of spotting. Some women aren't so lucky and have no symptoms. Get it checked out.

I didn't read about anyone having itchiness really... I suppose it's possible. If you're going in anyway you can ask about it. It might be a yeast infection or something, but at least that's minor. :)

That's not necessarily true. When I had it, I had an ungodly amount of icky looking, foul smelling discharge and severe redness inside my vag. It was NOT FUN. Ugh.

Yes, it sounds like the symptoms you're having could be connected to the chlamydia. The 'good' news is that regardless, you should now have a full pelvic exam, pap smear, and STI screening to check for any co-infections, when you are treated for the chlamydia. Your regular health provider or a clinic can provide this for you. Good luck!

That sounds like the symptoms I got when I had chlamydia. You should go get treated, ASAP.

It's a prescription antibiotic. Considering the side-effects (I had pretty much all of them, it sucked, my fiancee had none) it's definitely not something available over the counter.

Don't worry too much about an extra two weeks. Some women go years without knowing they have it and those are the ones you really have to worry about. You can try to tell them you're afraid you have an infection, maybe you can ask to have them call if someone cancels an appointment. Or try other clinics if that's a possibility.

You have to get a script for the antibiotics they will give you. Your local health department should give them to you for a relatively low cost. FYI - the two antibiotics they might possibly prescribe are doxycycline and azythromycin.

If you are in the UK, yes, you can.

you can have some symptoms, none, or a few. each person is different and each infection can be different as well.
it is an easy test to get - like a pap...but you want to get to the doctors office an dget tested/treated ASAP.
good luck.

My boyfriend just gave me Chlamydia too. I don't know if it's a common symptom or not, or if he might have given me something more.
But I thought it would be interesting to say I've been ithing too. Not sure exactly if it's beause I just had sex for the first time in a long time..
I have other symptoms too, spotting, naseua, and sometimes very itch.
I'm hoping it's nothing else. The itching. I guess I'll report back if it turns out to be so.
There are certain boys you know you should trust, then 3 days later you find out that they're infectious.

Regardless of the symptoms, if he tested positive for it, you should get tested too.
