Hey!

I would love to get an IUD, but I've never been pregnant. From research, I've learned that many health care practicioners are loathe to give people like me (read: never had a full term pregnancy) an IUD.

So, I'm wondering if any of you have an IUD, but have not yet had children. I don't want to go on the pill again - it made me moody, raised my blod pressure (which is already high) and I gained weight.

That's me! Childless, but with IUD. If they won't do it, find someone else. :) I got the plastic one with hormones in it but if I had to do it over again, I'd get one without hormones in it.

I'm really supersensitive to any pharmaceuticals at all, but I thought the hormones in the IUD would be okay... Unfortunately, I've been getting a MESS of UTI like symptoms and frequent actual infections (not just symptoms). They began soon after I had the IUD inserted, and they aren't letting up no matter what I do. I've had the IUD for over a year, and it's gotten so bad that I think I am going to have the IUD removed and a new one of a different type inserted instead. Or just do the "unthinkable" and ask my husband to get a vasectomy and be foreign-object-and-hormone-free (and childfree) for good.

that's weird the doc offered me an IUD. She says she normally wouldn't aside from the fact that i am in a commited relationship.

i have one. i'm 24- no kids, and know that i will not want them until the full 10 year shelf life expires.

i was lucky, my Dr. belives i really listening to her patients, and when i told her i was SICH of my body nt being mine thruogh all the chemicals n the pill, she agreed, and gave me a LOT of info. planned parenthood.com gives a lot, and i'll dig up some of my reaearch as well if you life.

personally, i love this thing.

I'm 26, in the military, and I have a non-hormonal IUD with no children. I also have high blood pressure and am on medication. I don't want children at all. I plan to ask for sterilization when the 10 years are up, because by then I should be past the age where they'll say "you'll change your mind."

Yes, some docs are hesitant, but if you're in a long-term, committed relationship and under 25, they are usually willing to do it if you tell them you understand the risk of expulsion, blah blah blah.

Good luck!

I'm 23, also in the military, not married, no children, and have a hormonal IUD. I went to planned parenthood and they had no problems giving it to me, mostly because I came in there extremely well informed about the whole thing.

I really love it, and would recommend it to anyone.
