My mom is scared for me to try a Diva Cup even after reading the Q&A & Testimonials.

She is worried they aren't safe, sterile, or "the best" and she is going to ask her gyno about them at the end of this month.

In the mean time, has anyone had any NEGATIVE experiences with it?

I told my gyno and she looked absolutely horrified. It made me really mad. She told me I could get an infection and wouldn't even listen to my explanation. She's the kind of person what doesn't believe in using the pill as birth control and asks me every time I go if I am using condoms.

That's so ridiculous. I really think medical professionals should become more educated about cups, because I feel like once they know more about them they'll realize how much better they are for vaginal health. Or maybe not. There are so many stigmas and beliefs surrounding menstruation, I think a lot of people just want to stay stuck in their ways.

My mother said "ew!" when I first told her, but I brag about my cup all the time to her. I think she still thinks it's gross, but she never had any concerns about sterile-ness or anything. She also said "so you mean you'll always have something inserted?!?!" because I'm on the Nuvaring too, to which the response in my head was "that's the way I like it" ;).
