Does anyone recall the minimal acceptable % of cranberry juice in what you're drinking to prevent a post-sex UTI? (I realize 100% is ideal-it wasn't an option this morning) The grocery store I stopped in on the way home this morning didn't have anything better than 27% cranberry, although it's not a cocktail or a sweetened juice.

(I thought this was posted before, perhaps I missed it in the memories or something?)

Yup, it's 27%. But if you have a Whole Foods Market or other health food store near you, they have 100% cranberry juice... even in juice box form. :)

I know the feeling. I'm glad that you mentioned it, though... I should probably lay in stock for Valentine's weekend.

heh heh.

MOM is one of the places i miss the most about our old neighborhood. I need to make a DC trip sometime soon so i can restock on my Wellness for Women tea, which none of the local places seem interested in stocking. grrrr, it really soothes my cramps damn well and tastes YUMMY.

of course, we always called it MOM's. hold over from my indiana childhood... penney's, kroger's, MOM's. Oddly enough, I don't say "Safeway's" or "Giant's".

Thanks for the offer. I *can* order it from an online place, but visiting DC gives me a chance to visit with friends I dearly miss. I need to hit Trader Joe's, too. And visit my favorite lebanese restaurant. There are some things we like that we just can't find down here. The drive isn't long (two-three hours), it's just tedious.

Of course, were I *out* of my tea, I might reconsider. I have a few bags left, though. Heck, I might have another *box* in my pantry. I really need to clean it out and check. ;)

Mediterranean Deli, in Tenleytown. And I think the current owner is actually Syrian, though I could be mistaken. I like Lebanese Taverna, but it's usually a bit much for my pocketbook.

I also like Fettoosh's Fast side (two doors down from the restaurant entrance on M street)... Same kitchen, half the price (the lack of atmosphere is part of that).

I'll definitely let you know when we'll be up next. We'll probably make a trip sometime in March.

BTW, did you ever get your cranberry juice?

Cranberry pills are also very useful! I can hardly stand drinking cranberry juice, so I just take cranberry pills. Actually, I take them every day, because I have frequent struggles with UTI's...or, rather, symptoms of UTI that could possibly lead to an actual infection. *groans* It's so awful. Anyway, I get Solaray CranActin capsules. They seem to help, and you can take them in addition to cranberry juice.

27% is the maximum you're going to find in regular grocery stores, and that amount works fine for me for UTI purposes.
