Every month, with the arrival of EWCM (egg white cervical mucous), comes some major depression. I began ovulation yesterday, today it is bigtime EWCM, and I am feeling like complete shit. It happens every single month. I'm bipolar, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I take medication for that. After ovulation, it recedes for about a week, and then returns in full force until I get my period (31 day cycles).

Does anyone have any resources where I could find some ways to relieve this? It's really a big pain in the butt.

I hope I posted this right, its for a friend -- I'm not ovulating right now!!

O.o I was gonna say, I didn't think you could ovulate cause you were pregnant :)

For your friend: This happens to me too. I start feeling down when I am going to ovulate. I think it's due to hormonal shifts. If she is taking meds, I would suggest asking her doctor to maybe tweak the amounts she is taking for her bipolar-ness(?). Sorry I am not trying to make light of the situation.

I'm just like that and I have major depressive disorder, or whatever the fancy word for it is. My cycles are even the same length! I haven't been able to figure out what would help, except for being nice to yourself, letting yourself eat whatever you want no matter how unhealthy is it and such, and also, taking a Multivitamin helps some, by getting rid of some of the lethargy that I experience with my depression. Here's a link (http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/9101699.html) to my question on the same subject (with some good responses).

Depression with ovulation sounds totally plausible to me, and this doctor-reviewed site (http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/pms.html) seems to confirm.

It sounds like severe mood swings are common in women between ovulation and menstruation. The site suggests that "a combination of psychological, emotional and physical changes around the time of ovulation" could explain your friend's ovulation-time depression.

Hope this helps!

The same thing happens to me. I've only noticed it in the last couple of months, but that doesn't mean it wasn't happening before. I guess it's just hormonal changes.

I also wish it wouldn't happen. I don't just get the blues, I get majorly depressed.

Sometimes in the past when I would have my period, I would get so depressed that I wanted to die and so on. The best thing that really could happen was taking bcp for my endometriosis, which resulted in no periods. If the bcp wouldn't conflict with the bipolar meds, then this is one option that I think would be beneficial, since it would stop ovulation.
