I have a question. I am a little over 20 wks pregnant and for the past couple weeks I have been waking up with sharp pains on my right side, just under my ribs. It mostly only happens at night and goes away during the day (although it has happened a couple times during the day). It was hurting last night and I went to go pee and I noticed that my pee was cloudy. I know about round ligament pain but to me it seems like its too high to be that doesnt it? does anyone have any idea what could be causing my side to hurt? do you think its serious enough to call the doctor or should I just wait since I have a doctors appointment next wednesday anyway? any info would be appreciated. thanks.

*edit* I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago so its not that..

I would call the doc, just because it could be your gallbladder. I had that too, and mentioned it as a comlaint at the visit, and they scheduled me for an ultrasound and bloodwork that day. It came out fine, must have just been the baby or something muscular, but it can be more serious, so definitely call your doc to make sure!!!!

It sounds like your gallbladder like the person above said.

is it possible that it could be severe gas pain?

and my urine is sometimes cloudy at times when i KNOW i don't have an infection, fwiw.

but you are pregnant and you are worried, so maybe you should talk to a doctor even if it is just a phone call (or something like askanurse even). it doesnt sound to me like a serious problem, but I am not a medical professional.

It may just be stretching, but if its strong enough to wake you at night its worth a call to your care provider. Kidney infections can strike more easily in pregnancy, and since all your organs are getting pushed around other illnesses such as appendicitis can present abnormally. In any case, if you are concerned enough to post about it I would go ahead and call just in case.

Does it feel like a slight cramp? If so, it could be severe constipation. I had that once and the doctor told me to take a non-stimulating laxative, like Dulcolax pills.

Couldn't really tell you what the pain is, unfortunately. BUT, I've had my gallbladder out for ... years. Almost eight or more now but I'll occassionally have these 'episodes' (I don't know what else to call them really) where it seems like I'm having a gallbladder attack all over again. Impossible I know since I haven't got one, but still happens.

If it were sharp and consistent enough to cause me real discomfort (longer than a few minutes or didn't go away when I changed position/moved, etc) I'd call someone, doctor/hospital. If anything to see what they might suggest. Maybe it's just organs pushing up and maybe it's something else. But if it were just an occasional thing, that happened momentairly, I might be more likely to hold off until the doctors appointment.

Only you know yourself. If you're concerned, see someone. Nothings silly/pointless anymore.

could be gas, could be a UTI or kidney infection, could be lots of things. I think you should call your health care provider and ask what they think you should do (they may well tell you to wait til your next appt, but it'll make you feel better to know you've gotten their opinion). good luck!
