Hello, vagina owners and savvy others.

Currently, I am experiencing a crusty, dark yellow and/or brown discharge into my panty, accompanied by an itch. It doesn't smell like anything (at least when I last went to smell it) not even sweat.

The reason I'm concerned, is that about a year ago I developed an itch and an unsual discharge (one that stained), that I ignored for 4-5 cycles because it cleared up for a week or so every time I had my period. I finally got fed up with it one day and went to the gyno at my school, and found that I apparently had Cervicitis. Antibiotics cleared it up.

The discharge is different from when I had cervicitis, because it's not as liquid. The itch is actually originating more around my clitoris rather than my vagina like it did before.

I also know that the current discharge isn't any associated with ovulation. I know I'm not ovulating, because my period was due to start this past Friday. Also, I know what that discharge is, and it doesn't cause me to itch. Just wish that I could change my panties midday.

One further complication: I'm currently studying abroad in London, and will return home in three weeks. Is it safe to leave it until then? Or is no study abroad experience complete without a foray into the local health care system? In this case, the NHS?

Thank you in advance for your opinions and advice.

I think that a foray into said local health care system might be in order. :)

Your symptoms do sound like they could be caused by an infection of some sort, and I would say it's better and safer to get it checked out sooner rather than later.

Good luck! I hope you're able to navigate the NHS without too much trouble, and to get some relief from your symptoms.

You may find the NHS busy in London because everywhere's busy in London, but I use the NHS being as I'm from England and I'd just like to reassure you that the doctors do know what they're doing...the NHS is more regulated than private doctors are in the UK. You should have a choice of a GUM clinic or presumably you are registered with a GP while you're studying abroad? You could visit the NHS Direct website: http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/ their telephone number is displayed on the site - you can call them for free advice from a nurse over the telephone and you can ask them for advice on whether you should be making an appointment. I recommend making an appointment in advance for a week later with a sexual health clinic or your GP if you have one, because you can always cancel the appointment.

My advice is to go see a local doctor.

If it were me, I'd probably wait until I got home, but I'd just rather see a doctor I already know than one I don't.

Have you had unprotected sex? It sounds like trichomoniasis.
