Okay, this might not sound like a *bad* problem to have, but I'm feeling very confused. I've always been small. Well, not tiny but I've never really had curves or anything. I wear a 34B bra, and I used to always buy the pushup bras. Last year at this time (11/2005), I was wearing size 5 jeans and needed pushup bras. Now I am wearing size 7 in some jeans, size 10 in AE jeans, and size 10 in worthington (jcpenney misses) dress pants. My tshirts are fitting snugger (size medium) because my boobs are seemingly bigger. I'm also getting a more defined hourglass shape. I'm now starting to buy size large in my tops. I'm currently 23 (will turn 24 in January). I wore smaller clothes in college (I graduated 12/2005), so maybe it was all the bad campus food and the fact that my classes were so far away that I was skinnier. I weighed 120 lbs last year, and I'm at 140 lbs now. I've been on ortho tri cyclen for 3 years, sometimes I've been on the lo, and sometimes just the regular, depending on what my insurance would cover. (BTW, I am very careful with birth control and I am not pregnant) It's crazy that my body changed so much in a year. When I'm not wearing a bra, I'll lean forward and have the sensation of boobs against my rib cage, which is a crazy sensation. Now, my question is....am I just gaining weight, or is this something that happens to everyone around this age? I guess I'm just confused because I figured it would have all happened around 18/19 years old. Is it normal for boobs to grow in a 6 month time period? I swear, back in May/June 2006, they weren't this big. Aaaah, okay I'll stop now. TIA.

As you get older your metabolism slows down. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I've actually read in some book [forgot which] that your metabolism never slows down, but when you grow older you're not the fidgety little kid you once were and are more content to just stay still.

Can anyone confirm this?

I'm 20 and still just as fidgety as I was when I was 5. Well, maybe not as much, but even when I sit down, there's almost always something moving, even if it's just wiggling my toes.

Once you hit 30ish, your muscle mass starts to decrease, unless you actively try to increase it. This causes your metabolism to slow.

I would think if it was related to the birth control it would have happened within the first six months to a year of you taking it. When I first started it put a few pounds on me, including my boobs, but that was pretty much right away. Might be a combination of your metabolism slowing down with age and the different eating/physical activity habits you have now that you're out of school. Or maybe just some later in life development - I was a size B in high school and now I'm a D..perhaps your cup size just wasn't quite finished growing.

It's definitely normal for breasts to grow in a 6 month period when accompanied by weight gain, even if you're not a teenager anymore. Girls losing a lot of weight have the reverse problem--very suddenly, smaller boobs, even if they're in their 20's or 30's.
It sounds like your overall weight gain/body shape shift has more to do with lifestyle and maturing than with HBC. If you've been on OTC for three years and the curves are appearing as of this year, it might just be your body developing. It's normal for women's bodies to keep changing well past their teenage years. You don't say how tall you are, but 140 lbs may be a healthy weight for you to have, especially if it comes with a nice hourglass shape :)

i've gained a bit of weight over the last two or so years, and my boobs have increased massively. i used to wear a B cup and now i fully fill out a D. also, i've become very curvy and hourglass-y as well. part of the weight gain around my midsection is PCOS, but the rest i can't account for. my habits haven't changed in any way since i weighed about 110-115, but no i'm an easy 160. i'm 22 and been on bc since i was 16 or 17. i'm not sure what this is all about, either.

My guess is if you weren't getting the right nutrition, your body held off on developing as much as it would have. Sounds like a good biological theory, as it's not good to have women fertile if there isn't food to feed them.

I'm glad you posted this because I've been having similar problems...I find myself fitting into the misses department at kohls rather than the juniors department. I don't feel like I *look* any fatter, but some of my jeans that I used to have to wear a belt with are now tight on me, and the scale says I've gained 5-7 lbs (changes every day) and my boyfriend seems to think my boobs have gotten bigger which is weird considering I've had tiny boobs my entire life. I'm 21, have been on birth control for over 6 months now, so I don't know what it is other than possibly just getting older (but really, 21?!). It's good to know I'm not the only one still growing :-P ah well.

It's probably just that you've put on some weight. My boobs are the first things that change when I lose any weight. I've lost 60 lbs in the last year, and my boobs have gone from a 38F to a 34DD.

Your body changes again in your late teens, early twenties. And then after 30 it's every seven years or something.

omg, the same thing's happening to me too, i'm 21 and i started putting on weight last year, like around 10-15 pounds and most of it's gone to my cottage cheese ass, and i'm just graduating in April, i'm scared... :/

it's probably just the weight gain, i went from a B to a C and i read somewhere in cosmo that even if you drop/gain 5 pounds, it's time for a new bra...

If you gain weight, everything in general gets bigger. Some places bigger than others.

Did everyone miss the memo that women continue to develope into their late 20's? I was surpised to read all the comment and not one person mentioned that. The only one who got close was someone saying changing "again," but that's just not the case.

Puberty continues until about age 25, sometimes as late as 30. Some of the changes may not be as apparent as others, but they happen.

If it makes you feel any better, in about 6 months I went from a large C cup to a DDD. When I started losing weight again though, I lost it all again before my weight changed (i.e. the scale still said the same number, but my pants and bra sizes were plummeting).

Bravo! I was baffled going through all the responses and would've posted something to this effect if you hadn't beaten me to it. Puberty most certainly *can* continue through the 20s, usually occuring as a subtle change in the earlier part of the decade. Like the OP, I grew a bit more curvy and gained 2 cup sizes (small B to a full D) at age 19 or so. Now, at age 23, I'm experiencing some body changes yet again! I've lost some weight around my thighs, which had grown quite a bit in college.

I'm kind of similar. I have started losing weight (without doing anything ultra dramatic in my lifestyle) and I have gone from being rather shapeless to ultra curvy.... its rather disturbing actually! I suddenly have hips :|
I guess these crazy hormones are always there to muck us around.

i don't know, but i feel your pain. since i got on depo, my boobs have grown a lot bigger and now i can't find anywhere that sells bras that would fit, that don't look like maternity bras (i don't want those because the kind of bras that look like that are uncomfortable and make my boobs look like triangles)

suckage.
