so sometimes, when i cough or sneeze, i get this really, really deep pain in my ovary area. it's sharp, and it lasts for up to two minutes after the cough/sneeze occurs.

is this common? i think if i had some horrible disease or some problem, my gyno would have said something during my last visit...this has been going on for about 2 or 3 years now. and i'm retarded cos i forgot to ask the gyno about it every time i've been. it doesn't happen often..just about...once a week/ once every couple of weeks.

thoughts? advice? help?

I get that too, it's just your lower abdominal muscles.

This happens to me too. But I also get a weird, painful feeling in my wrists when I sneeze really hard too.

I think it's normal. Coughing/sneezing can cause muscles all over your body to contract and can cause pain in unrelated areas because of this.

Hi, [livejournal.com profile] oooruinerooo. Would you mind editing your post so that it does not include the word "retarded" to mean "stupid"? We ask that you refrain from using "retarded" in a negative context in VP since it promotes stereotypes and alienates many members of the community.

I'm totally biased, because I work for two surgeons and we see lots of hernias. Sometimes hernias have symptoms with coughing/sneezing like you're describing. Coughing/sneezing puts a lot of momentary pressure on your abdominal muscles, and if you have a hernia, then those actions could cause momentary pain.

That said, it could easily just be a random thing that is totally unrelated to a hernia or anything else that might be serious. For your peace of mind, you might want to schedule an appointment with your gyno or regular doctor to specifically address this concern. It could be a hernia, or it could be a totally random thing that is totally normal. I wish you the best of luck in figuring it out! :)
