I got a raging UTI yesterday and quickly ran to my walk-in and got antibiotics for it I took 2 doses of macrobid yesterday, and both left me feeling a little queasy but manageable.

So this morning i took my 3 rd dose but didn't eat enough to control the queasiness, or perhaps it was just too long after i'd taken the pill, but within a half hour or so, i threw up. Puked pyridium orange into the kitchen sink.

fabulous!

so should i take another dose of the antibiotic this morning, or should i wait until my next dose?

ETA: i talked to my pharmacist, he recommended i take another dose, he said it shouldn't matter all that much if i happen to overmedicate, and reminded me to eat food with it. still queasy but def. not as bad...

I suggest waiting until the next dose. You don't know how much was put in to your system before you puked. If you think that nothing got in, call your doctor and ask. :P

Personally, I'd call my pharmacist and explain the situation. If you puke within a certain amount of time, your body can't absorb the medication. But I'm not sure what the time frame is for Macrobid. A pharmacist should have that kind of information. :) Good luck, and may there be no more pyridium orange puking in your future!

My mother is an RN and she's always told me that unless you can actually see the pill/tablet you threw up, you should not take another dose. Better to miss a dose than overmedicate.

Call the pharmacist--they will know for sure.
