So here's my situation...

Became sexually active in January of 2005. Went on Ortho Evra (the patch) that February, mostly to not just count on condoms (I'm paranoid) I only get my period maybe once or twice a year. Following starting birth control I got a lovely present- a UTI/Weird cold-virus that left spots in my throat. Was given Levaquin and had to be on a really long dose to knock out both. From there, I developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In getting off birth control my natural lubrication became really non-existent and has made sex really painful. Even with lube I seem bound to have painful sex. Even if I finally do feel lubricated, it's still painful (Not sure if psychological effects are happening there either)

So ... Now, in the present, I am on no HBC or medication. Still dealing with my Irritable Bowel Syndrome. But I am terrified to start another HBC. Between the IBS and a the lubrication issue. Ah! It's so overwhelming. Anyone have any advice?

I have IBS too, I'm currently undergoing a food elimination diet to figure out what foods (if any) make my symptoms worse. I haven't had any lubrication problems however. I suggest trying out a few different lubes, some websites have little packs that come with 5 or 6 different brands/types, the first lube I tried wasn't very good at all. As far as producing more natural lubrication I'm not sure what you can do besides making sure you're as hydrated as posible. You could have a chat with your doctor about the lack of lubrication and painfulness of sex (there are conditions), he/she will also be able to advise you about what form of HBC will suit you best if you decided to give it another go (you have to be careful with IBS, so that the mediation is fully absorbed).
