Hello again all you lovely ladies :3

I'm aware the depo can cause some irregular bleeding, and this community quelched alot of fears for me, but i have a weird question that i couldnt find and answer to from searching tags or other 'net sources.

I've been on Depo since feb, and after that first shot my period had stopped. had my second shot again in may and no period, but i had some light spotting in the last week that only lasted 2 days. after about 3 days i started spotting again and i havent stopped since then. most days its really light, but there have been a few days where i have needed to use a tampon. its mostly been that gross, thick brown colour, but sometimes it has a bit of the red *fresher* blood.

Now, I had my update shot this morning and completley forgot to ask the nurse if there was anything i could do to possibly *stop* this or something(i was actually at the office for a different reason, but remembered i was due for my shot again) . I know douches are not good, but seriously, i've been feeling so absolutley disgusting i'm willing to try just about anything at this point.

any help would be greatly appretiated!

but the man you're kissing in your icon looks so very much like my favorite EVER teacher (the one who convinced me, back in high school, that I really really did want to get my phd in History) that I just has to say something.
oh and he looks scottish. and scottish people rock.

Yay for love.

hope someone is more helpful than me.

It's been awhile since I've been on Depo, but I seem to recall something similar happening around my 3rd shot. I have a question for you. Are you going in a week or so before your recommended shot day to get your shot? I had been told before going on it that you should go in a few days to a week before your shot day, but the days my doc gave me to come in I thought were those recommended early days. Turns out they weren't. Say your next shot is supposed to be the 15, I was told that you should come in up to a week before that to stop the spotting. Talk to your doc about it though. I think the reasoning is that if you're waiting till the last minute then you're running out of the hormones which can cause breakthrough bleeding.

If you got your update shot today, there's a good chance that will stop the spotting within a couple days. Can't be sure obviously, but it might work.

I was on depo for three years, and my periods eventually stopped altogether while I was on it. Maybe what's happening with you now is just the prelude to your period ceasing. After I stopped getting the depo shots and a few months had gone by, my period eventually started again.
