Ok I will admit I havent checked the memories, I am at work, no time!! But I do have a question. I am ttc desperately and according to yourdays.com I should be fertile starting wednesday. I have a 33 day cycle and I last started on june 28. My question is this: When is the best time to have sex? I think I will ovulate on the 17th so should I have sex then. Is it better to have sex when I have the eggwhite discharge or like one day before? Can someone help?

However, those tests can be pricey and IMO, the cheapest route is just to do it during the few days leading up to ovulation, and right after. :)

Date: 2006-07-11 09:18 pm (UTC)It's hard to say unless you are really temping and using ovulation predictor kits (ie, opk's). Everyone's ovulation is different. I have 33 day cycles and I ovulate on either cycle days 16, 17 or 18. I tend to try to have intercourse 3 days before ovulation through 2 days after. That way it increases my chances.

Date: 2006-07-11 09:27 pm (UTC)How do you know you will be ovulating on the 17th? are you monitoring your fertility signs? if you're relying on the 'calendar method', ie just telling the computer how long your cycles are, then you should be aware that the date it gives you is only an estimate. It could be wildly off.

Date: 2006-07-12 08:02 am (UTC)That is to say, I completely understand wanting to make sure that you hit the right segment of days to have better chances, but really if you're not necessarily on those exact days and you want to do the baby dance, by all means don't stop and say no we can't I'm not ovulating...
Having sex every day won't deplete his sperm count by so much as to be detrimental to your efforts. In fact it can only increase them because, bearing with the math...
Say you haven't done it in a week. For simple numbers let's say that he has 1000 spermies in one load of semen. Doing it every day might mean he's got 700 spermies in every shot which granted, that's a significant decrease from 1000, but that's a difference between 1000 and 4900 spermies going after an egg in one week.
Make sense? of course having sex 5+ times a day might be a little excessive, but hey if that's what strikes your fancy, you'll get pregnant eventually.
Good luck!!!
