Hey ladies! So I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow (France, Italy and Greece) for 3 weeks, and I have a quick question. Since I'm going to have to adjust my sleeping patterns several times throughout those 3 weeks, is there a chance that the pH of my vagina would be affected? I know that may sound a bit farfetched, but I know that so many things pertaining to the vagina can be messed with due to simple changes in one's routine, and I definetely don't want to wind up with a nasty YI or anything of the sort. I've only had 2 YI's my whole life, and one was due to using lotion as lube (you may remember my situation..not pretty). So, should I take precautions while overseas? Thanks!

I've never read anything that suggested travel or changes in sleeping patterns could make you more prone to yeast infections, so I wouldn't worry terribly much about that. It might not hurt, however, to be prepared by bringing along a box of Monistat, boric acid powder, or whatever it is you use to treat YIs.

I have noticed, however, from personal experience, that travel tends to mess quite a bit with the length of my menstural cycle. For me, it tends to make my period inordinately late, which can be frustrating even when I know exactly why it's happening. It can also trigger periods to come early for some people. So it might also be wise to make sure you have any menstrual products that you need as well as to be mentally ready for the possibility of a wonky period.

Have fun in Europe!

It sounds like you are as sensitive as I am, which means YES. There is a good chance you could get a YI! Just get a small tube of whatever cream you use/used. Unless you're backpacking and travelling light - in which case you can probably get what you need there, as long as you have someone to translate 'yeast infection' for you!! And remember unless you're in the UK, it's not drugstore, or chemist or pharmacy but 'apothocary' or some version of that.

On the other hand, it's only for 3 weeks. You won't die of a yeast infection, and I'd probably be inclined to find some natural yogurt first if things started getting a bit hot under the collar down there. That will be (mostly) easy to find in a supermarket.
