This is a bit of embarassing question. Off and on I will go through periods where sex is very painful. It is almost like I have an yeast infection, but I know it isn't cause I've tried treatments and such. We don't use condoms as a form of birth control so I know it is not a latex allergy. Recently this has started again. I will feel extreme pain in certain positions while having sex in the cervical area, and the outside is burning and itchy. It almost feels like there are little open cuts, and it is really painful. This is really depressing me, and how I've been responding to my boyfriend lately. I don't want anything to do with sex, and I just feel hurt and disapointed that I am not able to give that kind of intimacy to him. He seems understanding, but I feel the definite strain on our relationship because of this, because I feel really depressed of the situation.
I am at loss, and know I should probably go to my Dr., she is the type of person though who likes to just push pills at you. Any suggestions as to what this might be, cause this is getting really difficult to deal with:(.

Glad that whole thing worked out! :)

Thanks for taking care of it.

Maybe not a YI?

Have you had your yeast infections diagnosed by a doctor before? Sometimes it's possible to make a condition worse by mistreating what you think might be a yeast infection.

It also sounds like you don't feel all that comfortable with your doctor. Any chance you could see a new one?

Personally, I think it sounds like you might want to get a new doctor.

Just guessing from experience, it might be BV? That felt (physically) similar to a yeast infection, and the doctor thought it was one until she microscoped it and gave me a pat on the back for following my intuition. Also, I was in a long distance relationship and found that sex was painful (usually at the opening, but sometimes near my cervix) after we hadn't seen each other in a while.

A friend of mine had something that she thought was a re-occuring yeast infection, but it turns out it was something that had to be treated with drugs (for both her and her partner). She forgot the name, but my investigations point to Trichomoniasis.

Good luck!
