Do you wear tight underwear and either trim or have all your pubic hair? I notice that when I sweat, or it's been over a day since I've showered, my underwear pressing against the hair can make my skin itch off and on. It could also just be a dry spot. Do you use soaps or shampoos on your pubic hair area? You might be drying out the spot, and that's what's itching. Or, it may very well be eczema. Your best bet is to keep the area cool and dry with no use of scented soaps in that particular area, and wear some loose underwear. As long as there's no bumps or noticeable changes in the skin, i wouldn't worry too much about it. If the itching doesn't go away or intensifies, a quick trip to your doctor wouldn't hurt.

Could be a reaction to detergent, fabric softener, soap, shampoo, etc. Could be an external yeast infection. Have you asked your doctor about it?

It could be your hair irritating the area. Before I took to trimming** my hair I often had the same issue. Smegma (basically a sweat/dead tissue/toilet paper/etc. combination) would build up in my hair causing irritation. Tight underwear may also cause your hair to rub up against the area causing irritation.

You might try buying some baby wipes or feminine wipes (I like Carefree's because they come individually wrapped so I can take them with me wherever I am) after using the restroom. It's a relatively inexpensive way to rule out the things I listed above.

**I can't stand to shave but my boyfriend trims my hair with his beard trimmer on the lowest guard he has. It lasts several weeks before I really need to do it again, it takes about 5 seconds, and there's no way to hurt yourself and no painful/itchy hair growing back since it just trims the hair short, it doesn't shave it. :D

try not wearing undies. i know i feel so much healthier without them.

try not to scratch. its hard but youre probably making it worse if youre touching it. eep!

use cool water on the area in the shower. no soap. dont use powder or anything after.

those are some things i do when my vulva is angry at me.

it might be just dry, irritated skin. if its bothering you for a long while you should probably go to a doctor. even if it is just dry skin, im sure they have something better to help than a drug store would.

good luck.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I tried (and failed!) to stop wearing underwear last summer. The crotch of my jeans rubbed that area on my body raw. OUCH! The undies went right back on after 2 days.

oh, yeah, i guess i forgot to mention that im not really a jeans kind of girl. skirts and gym-esque pants, mostly. jeans are uncomfortable without undies, you are so right.
