How do I change the taste 'down there'?

Ok, I've been with my boyfriend for 7 months, we are 'apart' right now because of distance...but that's not the problem.

I was informed the other day that although he doesn't mind going down on me, the only reason he didn't often was because of the taste. What can I do to change the taste? (I know I'm not going to see him in awhile, but I'd still like to know what to do.)

What if you took a shower before, or just tried to wash it down a bit with a handtowel, with water?

I agree with this. Unless you have an infection/STI, vagina is going to taste like vagina. There's only so much you can do to enhance the taste. It's kind of an aquired taste, he'll learn to love it.

Yeah, some guys just don't like it at all, ever. Although I suspect this is more of a taboo thing to them, rather than actually disliking it.

i.e. It's not 'macho' to give a girl head, it's 'unmasculine' in their minds, so they say they don't like it.

I disagree. All vaginas taste different just like all guys taste different. I have given a lot of head to men and I would have NEVER gotten an aquired taste for some of their stuff no matter how many times I was tasting it.

i know a lot of guys with little experience who love the ways girls taste (my exboyfriend was a virgin to everything sexual and loved going down), and know guys who who've been with a lot of girls who won't even give oral..

Try showering as soon as possible before sex, so there's no smegma build-up down there, or 'old' gunk. That can make it smell a little funky down there, and smell affects taste.

Secondly, try drinking more juice, eating more fruits.

Third, it's a vagina, it's not supposed to taste great and be less filling.

I recall one of the scenes in the Vagina Monologues where the woman goes on a rant about our society's obsession with vaginas NOT looking, smelling, or tasting like vaginas..."Don't believe him if he says it smells like rose petals when it's SUPPOSED to smell like PUSSY!"

i don't do anything special and my SO loves the way i taste.
but if it's of any help, i eat a vegetarian diet low in dairy, eat fruit, and drink tons of water.

If he tells you politely, there's no reason not to try to freshen up a bit.

Eat fresh fruit and drink 100% fruit juice, especially pinapple and other tropical fruits like mango and orange.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol, and if you smoke, smoke less.
Drink lots and lots of water.
Avoid asparagus at all costs, and cut down on red meat, fatty foods, and processed junk foods.
Eat more veggies, especially water-dense ones like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

The bonus? All of this is very healthy for you, as well! :)
Alternatively, if you shower or rinse the area right beforehand, he shouldn't be able to taste anything anyway.

I know asparagus affects the taste and smell of urine, but haven't noticed a difference in the vaginal smell itself.

Garlic is the one food that has a quick and noticable (and deleterious IMO) impact on the smell and taste of myself. . . .

well id ask what kind of taste, is it something thats not natural? or is it just your natural taste that he doesnt like? try showering right before he'll go down on you, make sure to wash well and you could try eating a lot of fruits in order to sweeten things up a little bit.

Taste it yourself and then try different foods. I find that pianpple-apple-orange juice makes me taste good. Milk makes me taste thick and gross. Celery is supposed to make guys taste good, I haven't noticed a difference but I DO notice a salt overdose after pizza...ugh. Straight pinapple juice and crystal light = super soury taste.

Is there any reason to think your taste isn't an ordinary, female, taste?

I mean, if you eat a balanced diet and shower once a day, you should taste just fine. I've heard smoking can have a negative effect, but I've never dated anyone who smoked.

Other than that, avoiding meat, eating lots of fruit and being generally hygenic will help you avoid tasting bitter.

You could try using Cetaphil, Nature's Plus All Natural Beauty Cleansing Bar or Sliquid Splash (from Freddy and Eddy's Website). Whatever you use make sure it's Ph Balanced.

A little unhelpful, but just an observation I've made...

eating salt & vinegar flavoured chips seems to make me smell rather... salt and vinegar-y. I find it odd.

I think one of the benefits of beign bisexual is that you have a slightly different (IE, two-fold) perspective on this.

And here is what my magical bisexual wisdom has to say: I've never gone down on a girl who tasted as bad as male ejaculate.

Maybe I've just been around some abnormally tasty girls (including trying my own) and abnormally icky boys, but...well...needless to say, if a guy complained to me about my taste, I'd probably smack him on the head and tell him to get back to work.

...ok, well, I'd be more tactful than THAT, but...it would sure be my first impulse. :-/

Yup, I agree with this one.

There's so many factors that play into this (gender roles, society's taboos, some would say maturity issues, inexperience, bad experience, etc.) but when it really comes down to it...

IT'S A VAGINA. It looks, smells, tastes, acts, breathes, feeds, paints, runs a marathon, rides a horse, gets the mail, washes the windows LIKE A VAGINA. /end rant.

Of course, that's only true if you don't have an infection, inbalance, eat a balanced diet, shower regularly (not even daily!) and last but not least, know what about YOUR vagina. Sure, girl juice isn't what I want to gulp down in the morning before I start my day..but neither is boy juice. SO! With all that aside, let's let our bodies be and just..let go of silly crap.

He obviously doesn't hate it- he still did, and wants, to go down on you. Explain to him "This is my vagina. That is your penis. They taste strange, not necessarily disgusting. Some love it, some hate it..since we're not fiends about it either way, let's just have enjoyable sex." Of course, in your own words. If he still feels the same way (hey, did he even ASK you to change it FOR HIM?)..well, that's seems silly to me, but then again..I understand that sex is sometimes not-so-pleasing, but it's something I'd DEFINITELY get over to have a lot of fun with someone I really care about! :D
