Folic acid/HBC interaction

Good Morning VP-ers...I often comment to people that they should be taking a multi with folic acid before ttc...I sound like a broken record sometimes, I try to comment to each person saying they are ttc and tell them to take a multi..why? My son has spina bifida, a neural tube defect that is almost always preventable by taking an adequate dose of folic acid three months before conception and throughout the pregnancy. In our case, the doctors still don't know why Gabe was born with SB, but he is guessing that the bc pill I was on caused some interaction with the folic acid I was taking at the time. Not a broken record...I agree. I'm lucky in that I only have the mildest form (Occulta). My mother too F.A with my sisters and they are both fine.

Carry on the advice...it's a good plan.

thank you for the positive reinforcement. my son has occulta and myelomenigecele..a very odd combo..as a result he is not very affected, but has had to have two surgeries, therapy, the whole bit..i just want to spread the word! :)

I'm actually fully missing my coccyx...just means I get bad back aches and the like. Not so bad. Not helped by being busty either!

Glad he's ok, I know it can be pretty nasty.
