How do you tell the difference between BV and a Yeast infection?
I had yeast about two years ago, but I'm not sure if I have it again...!
I'm experiencing slight itching and PAINful sex, but no discharge or anything.
Also, if someone could give me some tips on natural remedies?
I was thinking tea tree oil on a tampon and I know I've heard of garlic, but I don't eat it so there isn't
really any in my house...
Thanks a bunch.

On an unrelated note, can you explain your icon to me?

I wouldn't put tea tree oil in your vagina, that stuff is pretty strong and can have a bad burning sensation.

For me, the difference was all in the smell. Not all infections will have all of the symptoms, but the usual dead giveaway of a BV infection is the "dead fish" odour. And it can get strong, especially after sex. When I had BV, I could smell it through jeans.

That was the only symptom I had... I didn't have itching or unusual discharge. Just this horrible odour. But BV can certainly come with unusual discharge and itching.

Boric acid capsules are supposed to work well for yeasties, but I haven't managed to find that in my area. . . they may have to be made by a pharmacist? Apparently this remedy is more widespread in europe.

If you can't tell whether you have yeast or BV, your best bet is to go to a doctor to get a diagnosis, if that's at all possible.
