I am now on my 4th day of my placebo week on Seasonale. I had breakthrough bleeding through most of the last three months, and now my period is not really there. I have the same amount of bleeding as I had while taking the active pills. Mostly just really dark thick nasty clots. Its a weird, nasty-smelling thing. Should I be concerned about possibly being pregnant? I mean, I am bleeding, just not any more than usual. In a way, my period hasn't shown up, but then again, its been here for months. I just recently (3 months) started having sex, so I'm a little paranoid about it. Also, I've noticed that my cervix has felt more dialated than normal for the past two weeks. It feels much softer and more open than normal. And for my third and final question, anyone have any experience with Desogen? My doctor perscribed that for me today because I don't like the Seasonale. Thanks for all the help, ladies.

If you have been taking your pills correctly, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. HBC can cause some weird bleeding (you get a lot of the old blood, which is indeed very dark and can be rather clotty), and if you've been experiencing regular spotting that makes it less surprising to me that this period is so odd.

As for Desogen, just FYI knowing other women's experience with a type of HBC won't be any predictor of how you will fare on it. As per our Big HBC FAQ (http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/7325155.html), all kinds of HBC affect every woman differently... what is great for a thousand women may work badly for you, and vice versa. The only way to know if a particular brand will be good for you is to try it out, preferably for at least three months.
