After reading the FAQs I am pretty sure what I have is a YI. I have had discharge almost every day of my life since I was about 12. It's usually whitish to clear. But yesterday it turned yellow and I itch down there. I don't know what caused it and I have never had one before. It seems to be a pretty mild one. Not a whole lot of discharge, very little itching and redness. That being said, I would like to try the garlic method to get rid of it. Why do you wrap it in gauze? How long does it stay in? Does it in fact stay in or will it fall out? How do I get it out when I need to? Thanks!

Wrap it in gauze or you can wrap it in cheese cloth as well. Then peel and knick the garlic once or twice (small knicks you dont want the garlic juices to burn), wrap it in the gauze or cheese cloth (you can tie the ends together with dental floss or some other sort of small string) and then stick it in your vagina. It won't stay in very well if you are up and walking around, try sticking it in before you go to bed (like with monistat or any other sapositorys). It might just fall out when you stand up, if not bear down and your vaginal muscles should push it right out. If that doesnt work, stick your fingers up there and get it out.

Since it's your firts one, I would go see a doctor first, because yellow discharge can be a symptom of other things, as well (like BV and trichomoniasis). It's best to get it diagnosed by a doctor so that 1. you can tell for yourself next time that you have a yeast infection, 2. you're not treating the wrong thing, and 3. that it's not an STD.
