Sorry to ask a question again so soon, but this one is a little less stupid than the last I think. Like I mentioned in my last post(s), I lost my virginity Saturday night. Afterwards, I had little cuts that bled a bit, but not bad enough to need a pad or anything. I am due to get my period on about the third of April, but it has been pretty wacky lately.

On Thursday of last week, I went to Planned Parenthood and got my first pack of birth control pills, Cyclessa. I am supposed to be a first day starter. Then today, without much warning at all, I started what I strongly believe to be my period. If I take my Cyclessa now and it turns out to be just some bleeding from the cuts, will that be bad? Will I not be protected? And if I wait a day and start my birth control tomorrow... how will that affect things?

Sometimes sex can bring on your period, so it is very possible that you do have your period. If you have your period and you start the pills today, your protection is effective immediately. If it is not your period and you start the pill pack, you may just end up skipping your period this month until your placebo week. You will be fully protected after 7 days. If you wait a day and start the bc tomorrow and you are in fact on your period, it will take 7 days for your pill to be fully effective and you will need to use a back up during that time.
