Yesterday, I realized that for the first time, I have my very own, personal, yeast infection! Most likely due to the antibiotics I just got finished taking.

I went through the memories last night and decided on doing an apple cider vinegar douche, and then the garlic treatment as I slept. When I woke up, I used a new clove of garlic (which was nicked, as was the first one). I've also boosted my yogurt (which has the active cultures) consumption. Now, because I get to see my soopar sexay boyfriend on Thursday, I wanted to kill it asap, so I bought some monastat and plain yogurt today.

Simply:
-Can I use monastat and the yogurt garlic treatment similtantiously?
-Would mixing the garlic with the yogurt make it more effective?
-How will I know it has gone away completely? (mostly, because my symptoms aren't bad at all)
-Will condoms prevent the trasnfer of it between me and my partner?

Thanks!

I have no idea about how the monistat will react with garlic because I don't know what's in it, but you could look that up in 'drug interactions'---probably. Just do a search on google. The garlic and yogurt together I wouldn't do. (do you mean eating it together, or inserting it?) Either way, I wouldn't do them together--the garlic may kill the live cultures. There are "live culture" blends you can get at your health food store that may help to speed the healing process along. They contain a bunch of different cultures, and not just acidophilus.
Just ask for a probiotic formula.
Sorry---I've never had a yeast infection, so I can't say about knowing when it's gone. Good luck.

Oh, and try putting more than just one nick in your bulb of garlic. You could actually crush it a bit as well. :)

Yes, you can use monistat and garlic together, though it seems like a bit of overkill.
Using garlic and yogurt may work better than either seperately, I have no personal experience either way.
You can assume it's gone when your symptoms have completely cleared up - no abnormal discharge or odor, no unusual sensitivity or irritation.
No, condoms can't completely prevent passing a YI to a partner, because they don't cover all the area that could be effected by a YI. Also, condoms shouldn't be trusted for contraceptive protection in the week after using monistat, as monistat is oil-based and can damage condoms.

My acupuncturist and I have talked about the yogurt thing and she is not a big fan. She says the sugars in the yogurt could have adverse reaction on the yeast. She says a probiotic is much better.

Look for one with at least 8 strains.
