If this post is too off-topic let me know and I will remove it.

I acquired this keychain from my friend who got it in Germany. It holds one condom folded in half. It's made of hard plastic and I carry my keys in my front pocket of my jeans. My question is, is the plastic sufficient enough to protect the condom from my body heat? Or should I just use it as a keychain and not a condom carrier?

Can you clip your keys to your belt or belt loop? Or carry them in a book bag/purse/backpack of some kind?

The body heat could degrade the condom unless it was used immediately.

If you were tucking a condom in there to keep in your pocket when you went out on Friday night and were expecting to use it later that night, after only a few hours, it's probably fine. If it's the kind of thing where you're carrying a condom in there for days or months, in your pocket, and have no idea when you might use it, I'd advise against it.

I'd think not. It's just like how guys shouldn't keep condoms in their wallets.

yes, plus, you said the condom was folded in half? That is NOT good to do to a condom. Bending it in a way it's not supposed to go can stress the condom, and could cause breakage. You do not want any unusual stress on the condom.

So, if it's just there for pretty decoration, that's fine, but I'd not use it at all. If you want a good case for a condom i'd suggest getting a compact of powder makeup with a mirror on the lid. Once the makeup is gone it's a great little place to tuck a condom away in, and it's a flat hard case to protect it from being battered around inside a purse or bag. It's also GREAT camoflage, cause some people are a little "O.O!! Omg you carry a CONDOM around on you!?" and like we need to listen to that dumb stuff.

European condoms tend to be packaged differently than American. They're kinda squished into an oval, instead of round in a square package. It's probably made for those condoms, not the ones here.

i've seen some of those oval/elongated condoms here too (north america.. canada, more specifically).

Yeah, I've seen them in the bigger sex stores even here in Florida, but they're not as common as the square ones.

Yeah, I remember that one of my then boyfriend's friends gave him a condom they got at planned parenthood (or some similar clinic - they were talking about him being with me, and sex and everything, and they were teasing him) that was packaged like that. It was called Hardcover.

why shouldn't guys keep them in their wallets? does the heat get to it or what?

My boyfriend keeps them in his wallet..should I tell him to find another place to put them? Where do you suggest we store them so that we always have them on hand, if not in his wallet?

If he keeps them in there for a long time, the body heat will wear the latex down and make the condom less effective. Also, wallets get open and closed a lot so the condom could move around and also wear (I'm getting this information from my boyfriend).

I'm not really sure where he could put them, because I'm not a guy :/ If you were willing to carry them around, you could put them in a purse or follow the other girly suggestions above. :)

Also, the motion of walking and the pressure on the wallet when he has it in his back pocket (which is where most guys carry their wallet) can wear on the latex, making it more likely to break.

It's probably fine for carrying a condom out on a specific occasion, like put it in there before you leave the house and use it that day. But I wouldn't just leave a condom in there. Especially given that in addition to your body heat, there are probably times you leave your keys in the car, in the sun, on top of a radiator, on a nightstand over a heater... you get the idea. Probably less than ideal condom storage, that.

I wouldn't risk it if at all possible. On the other hand, if you find yourself in a situation where you're dumb like me, get too hot & heavy & don't use anything...well then a possibly damaged condom is better than no condom.

I wouldn't use it if the condom has been exposed to any kind of heat. Also, if the condom is folded/bent in half..I wouldn't risk it.

I have a similar keychain, except it's like those clear photo keychains. On one side it says "Some Girl's have all the fuck" (it's a band) and the other side is a condom.
