Is it possible to get Essured on the NHS, does anyone know? And how old do they like you to be for any kind of sterilisation?

There has actually been a lot more converstation about various forms of permanen birth control over in the childfree communities, than here. Take a peek in their archives, you might happen to find information pertaining to your area.
I googled and found this article:
www.netdoctor.co.uk/sex_relationships/facts/sterilisation_women.htm
Accoring to that it's harder nowadays to get it under the NHS. And that you start the process by talking to your GP.
If you're under thirty, you have to have some health-related reasons for wanting it, or be really, really convincing. Make it clear you know what the operation is, and that it's permanent. If one doctor refuses, you go to another.

You could ask at [livejournal.com profile] childfree_zone. There are a few people there who have had the procedure done, and I'm sure they can answer any questions you have.
