[identity profile] amhranai9.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vaginapagina
Hey girls! I have another question-type thing for everyone. There was a fairly recent post about someone being unsure about the location of her cervix, and I too think I just discovered mine today!

I've realized more and more after following this community for a while that I'm really not as knowledgable about my own body as I thought! For instance, for the longest time I was just terrified I had some sort of lump on the front wall of my vagina, but none of the docs ever mentioned anything so I figured it was okay.  But today, I think I figured out that it's actually my cervix I have. a difficult time reaching around very far in there, so it's hard to tell, but I think I may have even felt a little "dent" which is I assume the opening. But it always felt like this lump was actually on the frontal wall of my vagina, so *does this sound like I have found my cervix, or not?*

Also, if it is my cervix, I reached it fairly easilly.  I mean, I couldn't feel it very easily, but still, I have very short fingers. So I understand (now) that the cervix changes position at different points in your cycle. But even so, I guess my question, though silly, is: *how does my boyfriend's penis fit in there?* He's pretty well endowed, much longer than my fingers to say the least. Granted, it is uncomfortable if he goes too deep sometimes, but he's certainly not like only half way in. How does this work?

And then... if this is my cervix... isn't it... delicate? I always have this assumption that bodies are so easily hurt, which is why I was nervous about beginning HBC for a while, why I can't stand needles, and why anal worries me. (I'm not psychologically opposed to it, but it just seems like it's so delicate in there!) So if my boyfriend's thrusting away in there, even though it doesn't hurt, if he reaches my cervix, couldn't he potentially be doing damage? *How tough is the cervix?*

Thanks for your help in advance! (Again, this is such an incredible community.)

it seems likeely that it is your cervix.
the thing is, many cervices are NOT like what you see in the tampon diagrams--at the upper and and sort of flat. many of them are to one side, and sort of....long. mine, for example, hangs down into my vagina for about 2 inches (when im not aroused, at least). i can reach it easily.
what happens with sex is, first of all your vagina gets longer when you are aroused. in addition, the penis slides past the cervix (next to it, not into it).
cervices are more or less sensitive depending on the person. they aren't going to be damaged by a penis, though. i think they are about AS hard as an erect penis--at any rate they are not the sort of tings that will damage each other severely under normal circumstances. the worst i have heard of is some bruising and minor discomfort.
women's bodies are TOUGH. seriously.

possibly....the feel of his penis kind of catching on the end and then going around....for me that sensation is fairly uncomfortable, and i avoid sex at angles that cause it. but some people are less sensitive to that stuff.

Sorry, this is an old post, but reading this for me helped a lot, too. After seeing diagrams with cervixes(cervices?), I always thought that women complaining about a man "hitting their cervix" meant the penis went too deep. I guess it means it's just at a funny angle, I never knew it went NEXT to the cervix. That is a load off my mind, haha!

actually, that's your g-spot. it's a area of tissue on the front wall of your vagina that has a different texture than the surrounding tissue. it will sweel when stimulated and, if you feel comfortable with its stimulation, massaging it can get to a very nice orgasm that affects the pelvic nerve, a nerve that goes to the brain as opposed to the adendum which is the nerve affected with a clitoral orgasm. Stimulation of the g-spot is how women bring themselves to ejaculate.

The g-spot definitely doesn't feel like a lump, though...

I know what you mean. I didn't know anything about my body until I came on here.

Try squatting and then putting your ifngers inside of your vagina and tyring to feel your cervix. Squatting shortens the length of the vagina and you should be able to feel it.

Think about what your cervix is designed to do.. namely, dilate to 10 cm (that is the width of a coffee can) and squeeze a baby's head through it.

A penis isn't anything compared to that! :)

They're pretty firm. Men and women (and others) have been bangin' away at them for hundreds of thousands of years and they're still hanging around.

The only concern is that repeated bumping can feel uncomfortable or bruise the inside of you.

Your cervix will feel similar to the tip of your nose. When I'd heard that description, I immediately went "oh ... THAT'S what that is."

I figure I must have a really long vagina, because I'm not averse to putting things in there, but until a few days ago, where I made a concerted effort to find it (and I did), I'd never come across it before.

it's pretty tough. just think, it gets big enough to push out my 8 lbs 10 ozs son, after having endured well over a year of being harrassed by my not so small husband, heh.

In addition to the cervix being pretty tough, the head of the penis is usually pretty soft (there's no erectile tissue in the head of the penis - only the shaft), so it's unlikely to cause any damage.

My cervix sounds just like that. It's not too far up on the front wall (near my stomach) of my vagina. When I realized what it was, I was so surprised! I always thought that my cervix was waaay back in the deep, moist recesses, and that it was kind of at the "end" of my vag... It's amazing how much more I know about my body now than I did even a few months ago.
