Is the pill just as effective in week one of a new pack if I skipped the previous pack's sugar pills (and my period) in order to have sex? I'm not making a habit of skipping the sugar pills but I haven't seen my boyfriend in two months and well, you know.

Thanks in advance, ladies.

Short answer: yes. Basically, as long as you are regularly taking pills without a break for more than 7 days on your placebo week, you're fine... if anything, you'd be MORE protected, since you've just been taking them continuously.

But really, shortening or skipping your placebo week doesn't affect your protection at all: only lengthening it does.

no, the only change in placecbo week timing that can decrease the effectiveness of your pills is if you have a placebo week longer than 7 days. If you had Seasonale, you'd essentially skip 2 periods for every pack of pills, and many women skip more than one period on other birth control pills anyways, in fact there may even be some medical benefits to having less than 12ish periods a year.
