Okay ladies I need your help. Recently I allowed a close friend of mine who works at a beauty salon to wax me. This was about two months ago and I really enjoyed the after look. Now I don't see her often enough to permit it to be kept up, so I am interested in picking up one of the home waxing kits to keep me smooth. Does anyone have any suggestions? Tales of triumphs or frustrations? Thanks gals.

i did it once but i can never inflict pain like that on myself, so once my waxer left i just started shaving.

BUT if you wanna have some real fun, go to www.justkittying.com

it's a kit to help you wax it in to fun shapes. make your twat into a topiary garden, kind of.

are you sure that's the address? I don't think www.justkittying.com exists...

I god that Nads stuff and have had a reasonable success with it. It doesn't smell bad like those stupid creams, and it's pretty much idiot proof to use. My only problem is that I'm a coward: I can apply the stuff, get the strip on and everything, but I have to get my BF to pull it off. I just can't bring myself to do it. It also washes off pretty easily, and lasts for a while.

Also, those body sugaring kits aren't bad, but you have to heat them or they won't work that well.

but every time i get NADS
it eventually turns all crystalized and hard
kind of like when you refridgerate honey.
and placing the jar in warm water doesnt help
it says not to microwave
so its such a waste of $ i stopped using it
anyone know how to fix it??
its so hard to do it yourself though, much better paying someone
: P

2 years ago for prom i waxed my arms. i didnt pull it taught enough and i got a huge bruise. three years ago for prom i had my eyebrows waxed at a salon. the lady didnt know what she was doing and ripped out a chunk of my skin. last summer i wanted to give myself a brazilian. applied it to my bikini line (to be safe), pulled off the strip and the hair follicles started bleeding.
anyway yeah so from my experiences i dont reccommend waxing yourself or having someone new wax you. this is why i shave... as annoying as it is to shave 50 percent of my body (well... maybe 40... legs, arms, armpits, bits) its better than causing harm to myself.

just make sure you pull the skin taught... like really taught, pull opposite in which the direction of the hair grows, and apply pressure to the area after you yank the strip. oh and in some kits they have lotion to apply afterwards that helps with swelling and ingrown hairs. witch hazel works as well if you dont get a kit with lotion.
im an avid shaver now... though if i had the money id go to a salon and get the whole lot waxed off. not a fan of body hair. if you have friends that are beauticians you can ask them for tips. i worked in a salon and ive gotten soooo many tips for coloring my hair and such.

I am a shaver and I'm not afraid to admit it! :P Seriously, I'm fairly religious about shaving. Not because I'm embarrassed of my hair or any guy tells me to shave, I just enjoy the way my pretty bits look all nice and smooth. My recommendation is to use a good sharp razor every time. Make sure you use soap or shave gel or something to guide the razor along nicely. Then lube up with a really THICK lotion. Preferably one without too much fragrance otherwise you get really irritated. I work at The Body Shop so I'm lucky enough to get a discount on really good stuff like body butter (which works WONDERS for that sensitive shaved area). good luck :)

I wholeheartedly recommend the Seiko Cleancut razor (http://www.2sensualproducts.com/page3.html) for your girly bits. It's worth every penny of the cost. It shaves your girly bits smoother than the proverbial baby's backside -- literally any roughness that you can detect with your hand can be shaved by this razor. It causes absolutely zero ingrown hairs, pain, cuts, or red bumps. It can be (and works best if it is!) used every day. You dry shave with it, so you don't have to fool with showering or shaving cream or aftershave. You can use it on your labia with no pinching, pain, or cutting. Basically it's a miracle product: painless, perfectly smooth, daily dry shave.

I sound like an infomercial, but this thing is awesome. I've been shaving my girly bits with it almost every day for six months now, and I would never in a million years do it any other way.

But can you just order the seiko cleancut without the other razor? I wouldn't need the other one- I already have an electric, so I wouldn't want to pay the $60 for the combo. Otherwise you have sold me!

I'm intrigued. Does it really give you as smooth a shave as a blade does?

i would recommend one of those honey-wax or sugaring kits. i find that real wax is too sticky and pulls on my skin too much. also...it might be temptingly simple, but i would avoid plucking w/tweezers. seems to cause irritated, ingrown hairs (for me anyway).

p.s.

if you decide to wax and not shave...remember to follow these important steps:

apply the wax in the direction of the hair growth. place the strip over the wax and rub along the top of it in the direction of the hair growth. pull skin very taught and then pull the strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth. doing it any other way could cause you a lot of pain, bruising, bleeding, etc.

don't forget - waxing in the week before your period can be extra painful.
just a little tip :)
also, exfoliate the few days before you wax as this will help to shed any dead skin and making hair removal easier.

Sally Hansen Bikini Wax Strips - ripped off the top layer of my skin, left the hair! ;p I wouldn't recommend them if your hair is at all coarse.

I just shave with a Venus razor - I may get the razor that Katlynel recommends at some point. :)

i've never had a good sugaring experience. they're so sticky and gross and barely pull out any hair for me. i thought i was destined to shave until a friend of mine told me the woman she sees to wax her uses the kind of wax that no cloth strips are used for.. the wax dries and you just pull it off. i picked up a jar of it [mine is called Surgi-Wax.. i got it at cvs] and it's been great.
