I was wondering if anyone also noticed this. It seems to me that when I am living or spending a lot of time with another woman our cycles line up and we end up raging at the same time.

Also, When my boyfriend and I do it doggy it feels really good for me but it always ends up making me (and sometimes him) feel raw. This includes when we use a lot of lube. Any suggestions?

It's so weird that you asked about the cycles lining up because I was just thinking about this today. I've been sharing a house with my sister for the last few years and our cycles seemed to have lined up, but she moved out on the weekend and is now living with my mum. So now I'm wondering if my cycle will change at all, or if hers will end up the same as my mum?

I've heard this for many years. When I lived with my mom and sister we usually ended up having ours at the same time or within a few days.

Ive thought about it a lot. It makes sense (to me) that if women who live together as a group would need each other when it came time to have babies. So if all of them were pregnant within a short time of each other it would be helpful as everyone's chemistry would be revved toward child-rearing/nuture. lol I have a habit of thinking about "before modern times what did people do? , is this why that happens? etcetera".

See, I would think (from my non-anthropologically-educated standpoint of course) that having a large group of women bearing young at almost exactly the same time would be detrimental to the group... it seems like it would be more beneficial to have births staggered more, since that way there would be more women available who had not VERY recently gone through childbirth themselves be able to help with food gathering, care of the newborns and new mothers, and other tasks essential to survival. If you had a tribe of women who were all a few days out of childbirth, it seems like it could jeopardize their survival.

However, with that said, I have read from people who have studied these things that early populations a) probably did not have periods on the particularly regular basis that we do now, and b) would usually have either been nursing a baby or been pregnant, almost from the time they were able to conceive, so the whole synchronized period thing (which is DEFINITELY true) would perhaps never even have come into play.

I'm just ruminating here myself. :)

I've lived with up to 3 other girls twice - the first time, my friend Mel was on BCP and so the rest of us linked up to her because she was the "strong" cycle - we all would start within a day of each other.

The second time, I was the only one on BCP so I was the dominant cycle. The second month, two of the girls skipped their periods, then we were almost on the exact same schedule, starting within 2 days of each other.

So yes, it happens - something about pheremones and hormones and your body adjusting to them :)

i went to an all-girls high school, you can imagine how we all were...being on roughly the same cycles and all. :)

i have the same problem when it comes to doggy-style. i end up a little raw and i also bleed just a little, but the weird thing is - while we're going at it, it feels REALLY good. not sure why that happens...

The synchronized period thing DEFINITELY happens with women who spend a lot of time together... I believe it's been studied. It has to do with pheromones triggering each other, I believe.

I once worked at a store with 12 female employees. After a year together, all of us were almost exactly in sync. I felt for the handful of poor dudes who worked with us...

It's funny, my girlfriend and I have lived together for 4 1/2 years, and our periods don't line up at all. XD I think we're the exception to the rule, though.
