so i had my leep procedure done yesterday at 8 in the am, and came home and was miserable all day. this is the week i'm suppoused to have my period, im on my inert pills with ovcon 35 by the way. since he scraped the cancerous cells out of me, and than proceeded to cauterize the wounds, will this affect the rest of my period? it started late friday evening, into early morning saturday, but hasn't gotten to the me needing super strenght tampons like it normally does. so what's the deal?

oh yah, this month i took like two or three pills a few hours late. and my pill packet says that a "missed pill" is generally after 12 hours and i know for a fact it wasn't 12 hours late that i took any of those pills. so do i really call those pills misssed pills? i normally take them at 2 in the afternoon, but ended up taking them like 3-5 hours late. last time i did that with just one pill in august i got a week of break through bleeding, and took a pregnancy test at the dr. and it was negative. so i highly doubt i'll be pregnant, but what do you guys think?

if it makes any difference, the four months i've been sleeping with my boyfriend he hasn't once cum inside of me, and he's finally gotten comfortable with doing so and has done it the last two times we have been intimate.

one more thing, sorry if it's so long. my doctor said to wait seven days before i have any kind of vaginal activity, but that almost seems like too soon after my leep procedure for everything to heal? should i wait another week, or follow his orders? i think that's it for now. thanks ladies <3

when i had my leep, i was told not to have piv sex for four to six weeks and also not to use tampons during this time. i am not sure if your procedure was somehow different. you might want to talk to your doctor again just to make sure.

doctor's recommendations about post-leep vaginal insertion vary greatly - there're probably lots of memories over at [livejournal.com profile] hpv about it. my doctor said 4-6 weeks for anything to be inserted in the vagina (including tampons, fingers, etc), and no orgasms period for 2 weeks (they can irritate the cervix). perhaps give your doctor a call back and find out what's up?

oh, and yes - it will quite possibly throw your period off.

We usually tell people nothing for two weeks after a simple colposcopy and biopsy, so I would follow the above suggestions for waiting a while longer than your doctor recommended, just to avoid discomfort. I would definitely use pads instead of tampons for this period and for any spotting that might result from the leep.

I would not consider taking your pills a couple of hours late to be missed pills- you took them within 12 hrs. Certainly, pills are MOST effective if taken at the same time every day, but you do have a little bit of lee way. Are you on low-dose pills? I might be slightly more concerned then, and that might explain the break through bleed in August.
