Sep. 28th, 2002 01:39 amWell, I learned something new.
It is indeed possible to over-Kegel. *chuckle* Yeah, I know, I never thought it could happen either. But, after reading some about how to learn Kegels, I thought I might have been doing them a bit wrong, so I started starting and stopping my urine flow every time I went to the bathroom. Just to see if I could work a bit differently.
Keep in mind, I drink a lot of water, so my bathroom trips are frequent, and I continued to do them occasionally in between.
After three straight days of this I was outright sore.
*laughter* So, now you know, it can be done!
What fun. I highly recommend them.

Date: 2002-09-28 01:26 am (UTC)Also known for strengthen the vagina, inducing orgasm (in at least one very interesting friend of mine) and helping control incontience. I believe orginially observed by one Dr. Kegel to help control incontinence.
Basically, a muscle group like any other. One of the ways to isolate those muscles so that you can feel them is to start urinating, and then stop the flow. The muscles you just contracted to accomplish that are the ones you want.
I'd been doing ones where you clench your vagina almost like you would your fist, then relax. You can do it slow or fast. So trying the urine flow version was like changing from one version of bicep curls to another.

I do read here that you're not supposed to practice kegels by starting and stopping the urine, it's a good learning activity, not a practice. Anyone have some favorite links?

Date: 2002-09-28 09:46 am (UTC)I started strengthening them when I was in a long-term monogamous relationship (aka: no condoms) and once I became single I noticed that I had to be very careful about flexing my kegels because I had a nasty habit of, well for lack of a better term, "eating" off the condom right in the middle of sex. It was all very disturbing.
