I'm now 11 days late, and I've taken two pregnancy tests in the last four days, and both came out negative. I have no symptoms of early pregnancy, and I don't feel sick or different at all--I'm just not menstruating, which is kinda nice, but could mean there's something wrong. I'm hesistant to schedule a dr.'s appt. because I'm uninsured and if it turns out to be nothing, it'd be a waste of money I really need for other things, like food and shelter and what-not. How much longer should I wait before I need to do something, or should I not wait and get an exam now?

I'm sure by now, a test would come up positive.

Are there any clinics in your area that do blood pregnancy tests for free? I live in a college town, and there are at least three I can think of that will do a blood test (more accurate than urine tests) for free. I'd call around and check just to be safe.

Other than being pregnant, stress, lack of sleep, lots of sleep, changes in exercise and diet etc can all cause periods to be late, be completely skipped.

Since you've had two negative tests - I'd try to relax and take your mind off of it for a few days, and your period might just show up :)

Good luck sweetie!

It's not too uncommon for women to flat-out just miss a period. Relax, wait until next month, and see what happens then.

The doctors I've spoken to don't consider missed periods a "problem" until you skip three periods in a row, with negative OTC pregnancy tests.

Not to scare you, but ectopic (tubal) pregnancies tend to show a negative result until the pregnancy is 4 or 5 weeks along! This happened to me. Hopefully this is not the case for you though!

About one of every 50 known pregnancies is ectopic (source (http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregcomplications/229.html)). I'd suggest, if you still have a concern about this, to go to a doctor and have a blood test performed. Like others mentioned, your neighborhood may have a clinic that offers low-cost or free blood testing.
