Thanks to everyone who replied to my last post regarding chronic UTIs :) It's nice to know that I'm not one of the only ones out there with this problem. I don't know anyone personally that suffers from chronic UTIs, so I thought I was a freak, lol.

Well I've had chronic UTIs for about a year now. I honestly got them one after another, my body just became immune to the medicine I was taking to get rid of them. I drank so much water, peed after sex, drank cranberry juice, and nothing helped. Finally my gynocologist reccommended a urologist and he put me on Cipro. He told me to take one everynight before bed, and after awhile I could just take it after sex or if I felt like I was starting to get symptoms.

So far it's been wonderful. I've been on it since about September and I haven't had ANY UTIs! :) Except for now..

I stopped taking the Cipro altogether because I just started the NuvaRing and I was getting yeast infections. My gyno told me that it was the Cipro and the NuvaRing combined and told me to stop taking the Cipro (She never liked the idea that I was on it in the first place), so I did.

So today I go to the bathroom, and of course I got that horrible burning sensation again when I peed. This time it was REALLY bad, and I knew right away that I had gotten a UTI.

After peeing I was fine, then I peed again and it hurt even more so than last time. After peeing, I got HORRIBLE cramps in my lower abdomen, and I was running to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I checked the toilet paper multiple times to make sure, and I realized that there was a good amount of blood in my urine.

I'm in so much pain right now that I can't stand up for more than 5 minutes. It's to the point where I just want to cry from the pain. I just went to the bathroom again and there was more blood this time, and my back was hurting earlier. (This might just be from my job though)

What do you guys think this is? I'm guessing it's a UTI. I've never had blood in my urine, out of all the UTI's I've had, so this concerns me. And I've never been in this much pain.

HELP! :)

Thank you ladies!

The reason why your back is hurting is because it's progressed from a UTI to a kidney infection. Get to a doctor ASAP because it can land you in a hospital.

How long were you on the Cipro for?

And glad to see you are following everyone else's advice and going to the Dr. Keep us posted.

The only time I had blood in my urine was from a kidney stone. Perhaps this is why you are having chronic uti's? I know stones are a result of severe uti's that get into the kidneys but since yours are SOOO chronic, I hope they do an ultrasound. A friend of mine had laser therapy (not painful, she said) to break up the stones in her kidneys and felt much better after that combined w/ a long round of antibiotics.

Good luck. Keep us posted, ok?
