Hi~

We're trying to expand the archive info on shaving (though we do have some great info over at vaginapagina.com).

I found this Shaving Tips section over at the-clitoris.com (which rules if you haven't been there).

It seems like there are a wide variety of methods for hair removal. Do you have other shaving/trimming tips you'd like to share?

Sometimes shaving WITH the hairs can help, especially in weird, hard to shave areas like the very inner thighs right before the vulva. It kind of "weeds" the hair out a bit so the shaving goes smoother.
I don't know quite how to explain it but it works for me.

Save money, pain and faff by learning to love the hair.

agreed.
but when i feel like shaving (once or twice a year) i use non-foamy shaving gel, that softens the hair and makes everything pretty slippery (like http://www.lush.co.uk/pages/ambrosia.html).

For trimmers: it often helps to go in little clumps at a time with scissors, especially if you plan on using a beard trimmer, and take a warm bath afterwards to get rid of any hair clippings.

Use a good razor--preferably one with 3 or 4 blades--and a good shaving cream. I've found that the creams/gels that foam a lot (those sold in cans) really aren't that good. Kiss My Face makes great non aerosol shave cream.

Apricot scrub before & after shaving, and then cocoa butter when you get out of the shower or whatever helps reduce irritation and whatnot for me.

Use Tend Skin after shaving! I recommend this to everyone looking for ways to not have razor burn or ingrown hairs. This stuff rules, and is worth the price (particularly since a bottle lasts a long time if you're using it right, so it's not as expensive as it seems).

I tried the Arabian sugar technique from the-clitoris.com and I really liked it! All the ingredients were cheap, it's water soluable which means easy clean up, and the sesame seed oil makes it smell like popcorn. There are little red bumps aroung some of the folicles, but I probably won't get them after my legs get used to having their hair ripped out. I think I either didn't cook the mixture long enough, or I didn't let it cool enough when I put it on because it didn't grab all the hair in one go, but I'm sure practice will make perfect ^_^

For trimmers, i find that sitting backwards on the toilet is a good way to keep the fly aways contained and not make a mess.

Also, I live in a dorm and do not have a bathtub option
