Sorry but I can't for the life of me remember... do you ovulate ~14 days after the end of your period or ~14 days from the beginning? And does pregnancy count from the first day of your last period or the last day? Thanks.

About the pregnancy thing, I don't know, hopefully another poster can help you.

Is that right?

Date: 2005-06-24 05:37 pm (UTC)Assuming you had a perfect, clockwork 28 day cycle, it be 14 days either way, which makes it confusing. For most women, you ovulate 10 - 14 days before your period begins. First day of your period is cycle day 1, so in a 28 day cycle, you would ovulate anywhere from cycle day 14 - 18. If you had a 32 day cycle, you would ovulate on between cycle days 18 and 22, etc. etc.
Of course, there are tons of things which can affect this. It's possible to have regular periods without ovulating at all as well as a host of other issues like short luteal phases.

Date: 2005-06-24 05:42 pm (UTC)Pregnancies are usually calculated from the start of your cycle (the first day of your period), so that your pregnancy is actually 2 weeks ahead of the fetus age. This calculation can be thrown off if you didn't ovulate exactly 2 weeks into your cycle (meaning you don't have a perfect 28 day cycle, which I swear, NO ONE actually has). On an ultrasound, the tech can measure the size of the fetus and usually calculate the due date pretty closely.
