Im considering getting laser hair removal by the corners of my lips. I have really dark hairs there and I dislike them more than anything.

Can you guys share some experiences you have had with this?

This is not my personal experience- but my good friend had laser hair removal done on her underarms. Since she is very pale and her hair was quite dark, the process worked quite well for her (they have cooling systems for the laser now, but dark pigments absorb the heat more)- and she was thrilled with the results.

One of my best friends has had laser hair removal around her face. She used to go through crazy hair removal treatments - waxing, plucking, a whole routine that she did several times a week - and so views the laser hair removal as a godsend. She had to go for three separate treatments, because after the first one, the hair grows back, just finer than it used to be (I think) and by the third time, the hair basically stops growing.

You have to go in for 4-7 treatments. It gets increasingly more painful because they up the strength each time. I had it done on my face, I couldn't imagine it done on my lips. The pain would be livable, but still painful. (Note: I like pain and my tolerance is really high and I still thought that the last few sessions were very, very painful)

One of my ex-girlfriends had laser removal done on her face, and the pain was so excrutiating for her low-tolerance self that it would knock her onto her ass for a good 3 hours afterwards. They would zap out tiny areas many times, at about 2 second intervals for 20 minutes to 40 minutes. She described it as feeling like someone snapping your face with a rubber band over and over, so I doubt it would be a pleasant experience if done on genitals. But if you can handle that kind of pain, I've heard the payoff is well worth it.

I went once for one treatment on my lip but I stopped because financially at the time, I couldn't keep up with it. But anyway, the feeling is like a sharp hot/cold pinch that last for like a split second with each zap they give you. Like I said I haven't gone back but I find the plucking or using Nair easier. The skin is not as sensitive anymore.

I've had laser hair removal on my sideburns (yuck) and upper arm hair. The sideburn process was much easier because it was cheaper. I went for about 4 or 5 treatments and while that area isn't completely hairless its not all that noticable. All I do now is trim the hairs about once and month and everything is all good.

The feeling isn't excruciating pain but it isn't something that you can breeze through but then again it can all depend on how high your tolerence for pain is. I have a low tolerance and I was able to handle it quite well. Like it was said before it does feel like a rubber band snapping on your skin. If you have a small area you want to get treated it shouldn't be a problem to handle. Also ask if they have any numbing cream. Couldn't hurt.

It does take a lot of treatments to have the hair be completely gone but that may change from person to person and preference. I'm a very hairy girl and I'm not trying to be modest here so to make me satisfied and to get the hair permanently gone it would take a few more treatments. Some people only go once and are perfectly fine with the upkeep but mind you the upkeep isn't as frequent as before.

I would suggest doing it especially if you are self conscious about the hair and of course if you have the money for it. I know I was and since then I've felt much better about myself.

Do you have dark hair or light hair? The treatment works better when you have darker hair.

I have dark hairs by my lips, and yes, thats exactly why I want to get rid of them.
