Stinky Cup

Ok guys the best way to clean the divacup? I just finished my period and for some godforsaken reason it stinks. Its not a normal smell its like a kill me now i must be dying smell. My vagina doesnt smell like that just the cup. Has anyone else encountered such an odor and how in the heck did you get rid of it. I already tried boiling it in water for 5 min the smell did not go away. Thanks for the help.....

I had that problem with my Mooncup and put it down to using sterising solution to clean it. No, the smell won't go away after boiling it. I left mine until my next period and the smell went away after boiling it then. I hope it doesn't do it again this cycle :(

One month my cup took on a stink. I boiled it then stored it in a box with a tissue with tea-tree oil on it for a while. The smell faded before my next period.

I just had the same problem. I soaked in it half water, half vinegar. It seemed to make it go away (for now, at least). You may want to try that. I don't think you're supposed to put it in too much vinegar though, because it may ruin the silcone, so make sure you dilute it.

Yeah, I have never used a cup (gonna try it the cycle after the next one), but vinegar is a natural deodoraizer and disinfectant. I'd dilute it for sure, but it should do the trick.

ah yes. in menstrual_cups that reek is fondly (not) referred to as "the STINK!" or something like that, every once in a while. heh.
