ow ow ow ow ow damn you DivaCup!

so i got my DivaCup last night and tried to use it this morning. and the damn thing nearly ripped me up! it was so weird. i'm not a virgin but for some reason i couldn't get it inside of me and the cup popped back open before it was all the way in and whatever might have been left of my hymen is ruined. i tried a couple of times and it hurt too much so i gave up for the time being. i don't know how to get the stupid thing in and it hurts. i was so excited to use it. and then it hurt my vag!

does anyone have any ideas as to how i can get the stupid thing in??

i also bought sea sponges and those things are way bigger than i thought...

Hey Friend!! I hope it doesn't seem weird that I read this...I didn't even realize it was you at first - i thought it was just another fun diva cup thread! I have one too, and it took me a long time to get the hang of it. Ditto to the folding thing, and then putting the folded edge in first (the side that's on the left side of that diagram)

Also when I first started, I would lie on my back with my legs apart (the gyno position! yay!) and put it in that way. It was easier, even though it feels strange, and doesn't work well in public bathrooms ;) I just used tampons when i was out and "practiced" with the diva cup when I was at home.

Hurts like a fuck when it pops open on you, doesn't it? Ouch! (not like an actual fuck...)

finally, they say not to cut the stem all the way off, but I did. As long as you don't actually cut the cup part (duh) its fine. Its not like its gonna get stuck, and it is way comfier for me with no stem.

Gyno position can be good, but I would also recommend doing it while sitting on the toilet and effectively "bearing down." That will relax your muscles enough to allow the folded Diva Cup to slide into place (as in the diagram in the above comment). We have a post about this in our archive too:

hey! i was wondering if you'd be interested in finding out about the DivaCup! because i finally ended up getting in and yes, it did hurt like fuck. especially when you're pulling it out and it's like "oh it's ripping me open!" but i've gotten the hang of it. leg on the bathtub seems to do the trick. i also got sea sponges. any luck with those?

oh sick!

i didn't get them for regular period use. they're a hell of a lot bigger than i thought they'd be. somebody suggested them for having sex while spotting and since my uterus can't make up it's fricking mind (i've been bleeding for about 2 months now) i need something to plug the hole.
