i'm having frequent period issues. this has never happened before, my periods are generally 30-40 days apart. it started when i was in nicaragua for ten days and i had leakage a little early, but it didn't turn into a full period. then it came for real two weeks after i returned home. the next one came a week early and was a lot lighter than usual, and now, only two weeks later, it's here again. they have been starting out slowly and then getting slightly heavier. (mine usually come on full force within a couple days.)

might this have anything to do with my having been in a different part of the world? i've heard that can throw the cycle off. or perhaps it's due to the fact that it's currently finals time at college and i haven't been eating or sleeping very well? or does it maybe point to some other problem?

thanks so much for any info.

I never thought of that but I guess being in a different part of the world could affect the body's rhythms. After all, it's like a tidal thing, right, affected by the moon and all that? The stress can very certainly have that effect, of that I'm sure. I skipped two months in a row because I was excited about my 16th birthday party coming up. (Thank god I was still a virgin at the time or I would've been terrified! *grin*)

Of course, most likely it's a combination of the two.

This absolutely happened to me and a bunch of my girlfriends when we went abroad to Paris to study for a year. We all thought we were dying or pregnant or swam in some sketchy water. Late periods, early periods, strange consistency, etc. Eventually the cycle evened out time-wise, but it still had strange consistency/color but we were all healthy and normal according to doctors.

Now I'm living in London and its more of the same, different style periods but I'm healthy. My guess is its time zone stressors and diet.

Oh and we even had off cycles while on the Pill, thats how weird it was.

And i just noticed that you aren't eating or sleeping well and studying. If it really bothers you i agree you can see a doctor to save your sanity, but sounds like you have a lot of factors there that can throw off a cycle.

good luck on exams!
