the bartholin's gland cyst that wont go away

hi everyone,
i was hoping someone could give me some advice, heres my problem. I have had a bartholin's gland cyst two times before, and both times it went away either on its own or with medication. For the most part they were painless. The one I have now is painless and a bit bigger than a marble, but its been there for 4 months and hasn't gotten any smaller(tried antibiotics but they didnt work). My doc told me to take warm baths, but i couldnt take baths because i didnt have a tub. Now i have access to a tub, so hopefully that will so SOMETHING. So my question is, to anyone whos had a persistant bartholins gland cyst, what was effective in making it go away? And especially for people who had a re-occuring cyst, does getting it sugically drained help prevent it from coming back? Im just annoyed with the f-ing thing! any advice appreciated :)
oh, and my gyno said it wasnt really big enough to warrant surgery.. but im thinking i might want to ask again if the baths dont help

I've never had one that long or that bad, but baths have always been really effective for me.

You have no idea how much this post helped me.
For the last two days, I have been freaking out because there was a bump on my labia near the vaginal opening and I have only been having sex for about a month, with the same person in a strictly monogamous relationship. We started having PIV condomless sex just this weekend, and I ended up with a bump.
So, i was all concerned and I was a bit suspicious of my man...
but, reading about this Bartholin gland and it's ability to get a cyst has made me a lot more relaxed about my affliction. I have a GYN appointment on friday...but, omg, thank you!

yeah i was sorta freaked out the first time i got one.. i was in the shower and i felt this hard lump and thought "what the fuuuuuuck". Your doc will probably give you antibiotics, but if its not a painful lump(which is an abcess not a cyst) then the antibiotics probably wont work. So basically if its a cyst then it isnt actively infected, the duct to the gland is blocked off causing the cyst to form. Dont worry too much about having sex while having it, both my gynocologist and family doc said it was ok to have sex. With my experience, i would definately suggest using more lube so that you dont irritate the area as much. Now,i read above that you say you have a bump, it shouldnt be a bump that is external like a bump on the surface. The cyst feels like its pretty well into the tissue and its also hard. Well, im sure your doc will let you know exactly what it is! If it is a cyst or abcess, dont worry because they are not serious.. they are more annoying than anything. good luck i hope yours goes away soon!
