I'm allergic to elastic and latex products, and all of my underwear has elastic around the waist and leg openings. Does anyone know where I could find non-elastic undies? I'm itchy. :)
are you allergic to microfiber too? all of my panties are microfiber and most of them came from victoria's secret (but you can also find microfiber styles at target & other department stores). the weave of it is all really stretchy but breathes more than lycra....and because the whole garment is stretchy, elastic isn't used to keep it on you. might be worth looking into.
Does it give you rashes even when the elastic is encased in the fabric? I know I have some undies(i don't know where I got them so not help there)that all the elastic has been encased in the fabric instead of them just serging it onto the panty and leaving it out in the open. I would tend to believe that more high end panties would be like this as it takes way more time and plus more fabric to do.
The brand that I wear has the elastic encased in fabric, and they're Jockey Elance brand, at least up here in Canada. I'm not sure if they're available down in the states. They're not cheap, but if you can find them on sale, they're not too bad.
i think it would be ok as long as the elastic didn't directly touch my skin. i usually buy the cheapie hanes her way or fruit of the loom stuff, so maybe i need to spend a little more money to get better undies. :)
There is a company called Lucy that does mail-order undies... you could probably find them by typing LUCY and UNDERWEAR into a search engine. They have all sorts of cool stuff, and they're known for their comfy bras in hard-t0-find sizes. I would think they'd have some organic cotton undies with no elastic.
But what I first thought when reading that is why don't you wear guys' boxer-briefs? They're made of the same material as women's cotton undies, but the leg goes down a teeny bit onto your thigh, so there is no elastic there. Check them out anywhere, WalMart or whatever, in the guy's section. My husband gets them all the time, Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, whatever.
http://www.decentexposures.com/ sells 'em. i'm sure there are a few other places, too. you could make your own, too. swimsuit fabric + cotton would work nicely, just make sure the fabric is latex-free (hard to verify sometimes).
i often go without, but that's not always an option. drawstring boxers are my friend, but pads don't work so well with 'em.
my local fabric store sells natural rubber free elastic, but it's kind of expensive. i could probably ask a friend who runs a costume business to order some in bulk for me, though. maybe i should do that.

i love how papa penguins hold the babies between their feets for months. they look hilarious waddling on their ankles. so cute.
