[identity profile] punkittenx.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vaginapagina
Ok..this is my first post..and for some reason I am feeling weird about talking about my vagina..don't get me wrong..my mom and I talk about our vagina's all the time...but I thought I should ask this question to more than one person...maybe I can get some different answers. Lately I have been having problems with my tampons. I have been using them for 5 years..but lately it feels as thought they are getting caught on something when I pull them out. When I put them in it huts too. It feel like the tampon is getting caught either on the inside...right before the opening or on the outside flaps of skin of my vagina..not the labia...the inner labia..I think. Nothing helps..it hurts very bad..and this has never happened to me before...I have never had problems inserting or taking out tampons. My friend says she has had the same problem and it just came and went...it was weird..it came out of no where. So I tried to give as much info as possible. If you can help thanks so much.

I would see a doctor. Also, until you do so, using pads instead might be a good idea.

What size tampons do you use? If the tampon is too dry when you take out, it hurts. Also, if your flow is light, inserting tampons may be painful. But since you haven't had this problem before, perhaps seeing a doctor would be a good idea, I'm sure it would put your mind at ease. Stay safe and have a nice Saturday. :-)

I agree with what the previous two replies said, but also want to recommend changing the brand, and possibly the type. For instance, the natural cotton tampons I use are shaped like an upside down cone- OB are shaped that way. Regular tampons are a rectangle of cotton and I find that those don't work as well for me.

Size is also very important. Your body changes over time, you might need to experiment with size, absorbency and brand. And if you haven't tried unbleached natural cotton, you might want to. Regular bleached cotton tampons as well as fragranced tampons can contain ingredients that you might have developed sensitivity to.
