When it's bleeding, my yoni seems to me nothing so much as some strange, hairy, and totally alien creature, that enjoys making my whole body ache.
If I read one more feminist or spiritual text extolling the virtues of "women's moon times" I'm going to SCREAM!

I know how that is. I have come to tolerate my period, but I certainly don't enjoy it, and I know some women who look forward to their cycles. I don't get it.

My mom yells at me for complaining so much about having a period.
I love being a woman, save for the painful and messy bleeding each month.

A lot of nuns I once knew actually MISSED having their periods.
What are they thinking?

Im there with ya. The only time I get excited about its arrival is when I was afraid it might not... if you know what I mean.

similarly, sometimes i'm off by a few days due to stress, and i spend the whole week anxiously waiting for it simply so that i won't have to worry anymore about when i'm going to get it. :P

I agree with you. I don't see how something so painful and messy can be beautiful. And to think, I've only had my period for seven years.....and about 70 to go! Which really sucks. I've been trying to find a way to 'not get my period' by skipping the last week in birth control pills and starting a new pack. That seems to do the trick for me.

When I was on the pill (I stopped about two months ago) I'd only skip my period every other month.

Because for me, bleeding heavily for 12 straight days wasn't worth all the "womanly experience" some woman tend to speak of.

The only good thing I got out of the pill was bigger breasts.

I'm on depo-provera, and I no longer menstruate. I have to say, it's really quite nice.

However, one of these days I'll go back to being on the rag. After three years, I'm sort of missing it.
