In late July my gyno told me that my right ovary felt hard, and that she wanted me to come back for an ultrasound asap. Because I wouldn't have insurance until I returned to school I was advised that the ultrasound could be put off till late August, early September. I still haven't heard from my insurance agency.

Question: Who here has had a "hard ovary" problem? What was the result? I'm guessing it's something cystic, but there are benign cysts, right? I haven't experienced any discomfort and wouldn't have even suspected anything if my doctor hadn't pointed it out. I've always had sharp pains when I ovulate, but I don't know if that's related.

Question: As far as "pre-exisiting conditions" go with insurance plans, do you think this is something I can sneak in under the radar? My mother said I should ask my gyno and see what she advises, but if it's trouble that I should just go to a different doctor and complain about discomfort(but I feel reallly uncomfortable about fibbing even in these sorts of situations). What would you do in this situation?

Thanks for the advice!

Okay, about a year ago I got an ovarian cyst. I actually had to have it surgically removed, but it kinda went away during surgery. They also took pics of my internal organs and said that my intestine are bulged a bit due to lack of fiber. Aka Im not pooping enough.

If you are sure its your ovaries I would get it checked, if not you should try eating a sald and see if you feel better.

I'm assuming you're either too old to be covered by your parents or some other issue, since your mom knows about this. :)

What do you mean by "sneaking it under the radar"? I wouldn't just go to a different gyno and hope that s/he will give you a break - it's not that they're coldhearted by charging you $XX.XX for an ultrasound without insurance - it's just what they have to charge.
