My vagina is a shell...a round pink tender shell...and it's killing me!

I have really REALLY sensitive skin and everytime I shave my bikini line I get horrid red bumps everywhere that hurt like hell. (I get them on my legs too sometimes). I can't wax because it has the same effect...every dipilitory (including Nair and epil stop) I've used has been too harsh, or hasn't worked.

My girlfriend is coming to visit me soon and I'm out of ideas...I know she wouldn't care but I'm also irritated at this irritation! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried an electric razor? That's the only thing I can shave with when I feel like shaving...and dipilatories make me break out.

I have so much trouble shaving that I rarely bother, but when I do, I use an electric razor and a shave gel for sensitive skin.

i've heard from more than one source that the best thing to do is nothing at all... it might be hard to get used to at first, but what's really that wrong with au natural, man... it's better than bumpy, itchy, hurty! i've also heard that visine gets rid of bikini line shaving bumps... never tried it myself, but my bestfriend swears by it.

I'm all for doing nothing at all. :)

I've shaved before, but it isn't worth doing that to my skin to shave on a regular basis. My coochie's delicate. It stays happier if I let it grow most of the time, and save shaving for rare, special occasions.

me too! shaving is itchy... and i think if something's hairy, there's probably a reason! :)

How bout waxing? I dont think it hurts as bad as people make it out, and whilst Im kind of red for a day, it goes away and no bumps when stuff grows back.

You could try trimming instead of actual shaving. I use a mens electric razor, and use the long hair trimmers to get the hair really short. That way, there's no irritation, and I think it looks quite cute :)

If you do want to shave, are you shaving in the same direction the hair grows? When I do want to be smooth, I use the long hair trimmers to get it as short as possible, then shave in the same direction the hair is pointing. Then I shave over once again in the opposite direction. I find it makes it perfectly smooth, and it doesn't irritate the skin at all.

There are those commercially available creams that are meant to stop shaving rash and ingrown hairs. I can't remember what they're called at all, but you coudl try asking your chemist about them I guess :)

Hope that helps

one of the commercially prepared cremes is called "bikini zone" and works rather well.

i have scars from nasty red bumps due to shaving on and off for years. the only thing that's ever worked for me is stuff called bump stopper that my friend turned me onto about six months ago.

it's in drugstores, at least in the u.s., in the men's shaving section. it's a product marketted to black men, and it's a miracle substance as far as i'm concerned!

now, the only thing that irritates me is not shaving with a very sharp razor. i get waxings when i can afford them and that goes fine too. i use it twice a day and no itching, no bumps, no redness.

i remove my hair primarily because it greatly increases my sensitivity, and that's a good thing! ;D

i swear by shaving with cheap hair conditioner(suave or white rain), and following the shave with neosporin or its generic counterpart.

i havent gotten bumps since i started doing this.

its worth a shot :) good luck.

I'm a shaver.. Nair doesn't do a thing for me (except smell bad) and the thought of waxing down there just makes me nervous. I've also always had those itchy red bumps.

Now here's the deal.
About 3 months ago I went to one of those "adult slumber parties". (If you've never been to one it's basically like a tupperware party, only with vibrators and lubes :P )
I bought a shaving gel called 'coochie' which is specifically for this problem, and it worked WONDERS. (and it smelled great-my boyfriend used it on his face once, and he loved it too!) I ran out a few weeks ago, and can't seem to find it anywhere!
If you happen to come across it, GET IT! And then tell me where you found it :)

whoever set up the "slumber party" should be able to put you in touch with the person you purchased it from. To my understanding, aren't those the equivlant of a mary kay party or something? You could also try looking up a manufactours (sp?) name on the bottle or tubes label....

Don't say I don't love you guys. :) (http://www.playfuldelights.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=PDI)

If you scroll down towards the bottom, its there. It may be cheaper elsewhere, but yeah. I'm going to try it as soon as I get paid. I'm a sucker just for the name.

Suggestion, if you can bear it:

Instead of shaving completely, trim as close as you can and condition! Use a NICE conditioner, like Pantene, every time you're in the shower. It will be short but not spiky, close but soft.
