I get my period about every 5 or 6 weeks. It's always a mystery to me as to when it will rear it's ugly head. It's usually extremely heavy for the first 2 days (as in super plus tampons are gone through within 20 minutes) so I don't really think thats entirely too healthy to change that often so when it's like that I use heavy pads, and change those also every half hour or less.

After the three days it becomes a normal period. The fourth and 5th day it tapers off. 6th and 7th day it lingers around. 8th 9th and 10 days sometimes I still am getting enough brownish blood discharge to have to wear a thinner pad.

When I bleed like this I often get dizzy, lightheaded and I feel the need to throw up.

Would it be possible something is wrong with me? I never got my period until I was like 15 year old. A few years after that, and since it has been like this.

I don't know if there's a specific thing wrong with you, but if you're getting dizzy and nauseous, it'd probably be worth it to talk to your gyn about it.

My guess (uneducated, so please don't take it too seriously) is that you're getting dizzy because you're losing so much blood at once. You might get anemic around that time of the month/two months/etc. If so, you might want to get your blood taken to get a physical and see if you are anemic. There are things you can do to adjust that.

Good luck!

I'd say you should go to a doctor because that really heavy bleeding at the beginning should and can be regulated to something more manageable. my first days are heavy but not pad in 30 minutes heavy. get it checked out and put your mind at ease.

periods like that run in my family. most of us are on hormonal birth control pills to control it. it works.

As the first commenter said, it sounds like you have low iron, due to your heavy bleeding. It would probably be worth your while to see a gyno and talk about going on bc to shorten your periods.

Is there something wrong with you? ::shrug:: Define "wrong".

My periods have always been like that too. I went to my Doctor a couple of years ago thinking that I must be anaemic - I was always dizzy and lightheaded too. He did a blood test and as far as anaemia goes, I was fine.
However, he put it down to slightly higher-than-normal levels of hormones.
I went on BC for a short while and that got rid of the dizzy, weak feelings.
Didn't much like bc, and as I'm not sexually active it wasn't a necessity.

this has happened to me more than a few times..i always just thought it was b/c i hate blood (so mental) but maybe it's because of the experience that i hate blood, does that make sense? the inverse?

anyways, i've been on the pill now and it rarely happens.
